Forvis Mazars UK – Energy, Infrastructure & Environment practice is trusted by leading investors and developers to deliver advisory and valuations services across EMEA and the Americas.
Job Purpose
To support Partners and Directors in developing the Advisory and Valuations service lines by delivering high-quality advisory and valuation services to clients in the energy and infrastructure sector. Responsibilities include engagements such as acquisitions, valuations, sales, fundraisings, bid advisory and debt raisings.
The right candidate would:
- Lead advisory and valuation assignments with a mix of project management and strategic direction to a team of sector specialists (approximately 50:50 between advisory and valuations, subject to client needs).
- Demonstrate excellent client relationship skills and a commitment to first-rate client service.
- Possess strong PowerPoint and report-writing skills, with a natural intellectual curiosity.
- Be proficient in interpreting and validating Excel-based financial models with 3-way statements.
- Be committed to business development as well as project execution.
- Have significant experience in the energy and infrastructure sector.
The role may be at Associate Director or Manager level, depending on experience. At AD level, more autonomous client relationships, greater business development responsibilities and leadership within the team are expected.
Professional Responsibilities
Project Delivery
- Manage delivery of advisory engagements, including preparing transaction documentation (business plans, information memoranda, financial models).
- Research and approach potential buyers/sellers for clients.
- Take day-to-day lead role in running assignments with a portfolio of engagements.
- Project-manage smaller transactions and components of larger ones.
- Build strong client relationships and address issues promptly.
- Provide clear tactical advice on complex transactions under supervision of senior team members.
- Maintain composure and meet deadlines under pressure.
- Ensure billing aligns with agreed plans and projects follow Mazars’ quality and risk procedures.
- Manage budgets and financials for engagements.
Valuation Engagements
- Produce project plans and coordinate team members to deliver them.
- Analyse information, identify key valuation issues, and reflect conclusions in valuation outputs.
- Review market evidence and incorporate market feedback into valuations.
- Analyse financial models, run sensitivities, and review valuation calculations.
- Write or review valuation reports and manage financial aspects (forecasting, billing, debt collection).
- Develop client relationships over time and lead, coach and review junior professionals.
People & Product Development
- Develop client deliverables and processes with awareness of sector dynamics and commercial context.
- Mentor junior team members through coaching and development.
- Review work and provide constructive feedback during fieldwork.
- Ensure deliverables are visually clear and effective.
- Build market knowledge and relationships to keep valuations current with market insights.
- Promote a culture of learning and development across the team; potential line management responsibilities for staff in London, Delhi and Pune.
Business Development & Team Engagement
- Develop market intelligence and sector knowledge for new opportunities and pitches.
- Lead proposal documents for new opportunities and help convert them.
- Build and maintain external networks and client relationships; support marketing and personal market profile.
- Foster internal collaboration within Forvis Mazars across UK and international teams.
- Work with Transaction Services, Tax and other advisory teams as part of an integrated deal advisory offering.
- Promote Forvis Mazars energy and infrastructure sector knowledge internally and externally.
Key Requirements
- Several years of deal advisory and valuation experience in energy and infrastructure (at least 6 years for Manager; 8+ years for Associate Director).
- Strong track record in energy & infrastructure through M&A or financing transactions.
- Solid understanding of industry trends and key market players.
- Proven project management ability and capability to meet tight deadlines.
- Strong financial modelling capabilities with knowledge of standard valuation techniques in energy/infrastructure.
- Proven ability to build and maintain client relationships through repeat work.
- Ability to interpret results, identify issues, and apply commercial judgment.
- Proactive, confident team player with ability to build professional relationships at all levels.
- Ability to develop self and others; experience in managing junior team members (for Manager level).
- Understanding of engagement and risk processes in an accounting/finance context; ACA or CFA desirable but not essential.
- Fluency in English (written and spoken); a second EU language is desirable.
- Self-motivated, ambitious, hard-working with a passion for client service and business growth; strong team ethic.
- Excellent written and verbal presentation skills.
