Company DescriptionThe Animal Health Professions’ Register (AHPR) is a voluntary, independent regulator, that provides a form of assurance to veterinary surgeons and animal owners when selecting professionals to treat their animals. Our register includes qualified veterinary physiotherapists, veterinary chiropractors, and animal sports massage therapists who have completed nationally-regulated qualifications, hold insurance, and follow our code of conduct.Launched in 2018, AHPR was established in response to the Review of Minor Procedures Regime (RMPR) to bring clarity and consistency to the regulation of animal health professionals. We uphold excellence in education through accreditation of qualifications, continuing professional development, and evidence-based practice.As the veterinary sector evolves, AHPR supports legislative reform and is involved in discussion around modernising the Veterinary Surgeons Actto reflect current practices. Working closely with Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) and Defra, we advocate for clearer regulations and greater transparency, aiming to ensure Allied Veterinary Professionals are recognised, regulated, and maintain high industry standards in any new legislation or regulatory models.By enforcing rigorous standards, we safeguard the integrity of animal healthcare, ensuring animal welfare remains a top priority, both now and in the future.About the roleThe Operations Director is a senior leadership role, responsible for overseeing AHPR’s day-to-day operations, ensuring efficiency, and compliance. Reporting to the AHPR Board, they manage staff, volunteers, and business processes to ensure smooth and effective operation of the Register. This role requires strong organisational skills, experience in managing a small (limited) company, and a strategic mindset to support AHPR’s mission. Ideally the candidate will have some knowledge if the veterinary sector.Please note this role is remote, part time and voluntary. Some weeks may be busier than others, but it is anticipated that the role will require 1 day per week.
