As Assistant Director, Engineering & Infrastructure, you will lead the redevelopment of UCL’s campus engineering infrastructure, driving forward our Infrastructure Master Plan and playing a pivotal role in our journey to net zero carbon. Working at the forefront of world-class research and education, you will ensure our estate is future-proof, legally compliant, sustainable, and a first-class environment for staff, students, and visitors.

About the role

Leading delivery of the Infrastructure & Decarbonisation Masterplan and asset & condition surveys.

Prioritising investment strategies that ensure compliance, sustainability, and value for money.

Overseeing major infrastructure programmes, including the replacement of the Bloomsbury Heat and Power Network.

Embedding digital systems to improve efficiency, resilience, and user experience.

Acting as Chief Engineer for UCL, providing strategic and technical leadership across mechanical, electrical, energy, and fabric services.

Driving a safety-first culture and ensuring high-quality, customer-focused service delivery.

About you

We are seeking a senior engineering professional with:

A degree-level qualification (or equivalent) and membership of a relevant professional body.

Substantial experience managing engineering and maintenance operations in a large, complex, multi-site environment.

A track record of leading infrastructure renewal and delivering major projects.

Exceptional leadership, financial management and stakeholder engagement skills.

A collaborative, innovative, and solution-focused approach.

The salary will be on the UCL Grade 10 the range for this role is £85,000 - £100,000 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. The final salary offered will be negotiable within the grade, depending on skills and experience
