The role focuses on high-impact Enterprise Critical Pursuits (ECPs) that align with our strategy and growth goals.The Associate Bid Director leads teams in creating bid win strategy and drives that strategy through all bid stages—from kickoff facilitation, delivery-method creation, and commercial challenges, to bid submission, interview/presentation preparation, behavioural assessments and debrief. The role escalates risks to winning and mitigates them in partnership with the Head of MPTE.The role is front-of-house, involving direct client interaction and collaboration with internal colleagues to influence major pursuits strategy and delivery.ResponsibilitiesAct as an exemplar for work winning, balancing entrepreneurship and discipline to achieve a target win rate.Serve as a strategic partner to capture managers on key pursuits, challenging and supporting as needed.Collaborate with the CAM and capture manager to gather client and scope intelligence and understand positioning activities to date.Meet with client decision makers, with the CAM/capture manager, to gather intelligence on their thinking and project scope.Lead and support the creation and execution of win strategies, using the Four Rules method, with cross-functional teams to identify key decision-makers, client needs and competitive advantage, and communicate this clearly in the bid.Develop winning solutions with the capture manager, including partnerships and bringing in key expertise.Identify and secure technical, work-winning and marketing resources for opportunities, bids and delivery.Engage early with marketing on thought leadership and campaigns to position AECOM with client decision makers.Lead bid delivery in conjunction with the capture manager, bid coordinator and support services.Prepare for Gate reviews, Go/No-Go decisions, Exec Boards and Risk Committees.Oversee end-to-end bidding: win strategy, commercial/pricing, technical/quality workstreams and bid debriefs.Facilitate workshops on win strategy, delivery strategy, task briefs for bid writers, and pricing/lessons learned reviews.Ensure effective use of MPTE processes and tools to optimize win opportunities.Coach and train bid teams in win strategy, bid management and answer planning.Manage and report bid budgets and communicate daily progress and risks.Collaborate with Head of MPTE to advance the MPTE team and provide support to leadership as required.Lead by example as an effective bid leader and stay current with developments across AECOM.QualificationsThis is a leadership role requiring clear thinking, strategic skills, empathy, and the ability to engage and lead the business in winning work. The following qualifications apply:Proven depth and breadth of experience on Europe major pursuits across relevant markets and bid teams.Experience managing both commercial/pricing and quality/technical streams on major bids.Track record delivering major winning bids of circa $100m in a multi-geography, multi-market, multi-discipline context.Experience in an Architect-Engineer business across Programme Management, Defence, National Security, Energy Transition, Aviation and Water.Strong track record of winning major bids in a multi-geography, multi-market, multi-discipline enterprise.BehavioursConsistently exceeds expectations and takes on more than asked.Solves big problems or finds new opportunities without direction.Is regarded as an expert by employees and the industry.Helps others be more productive by improving the work environment.Continuously develops skills and shares knowledge openly. embraces change and supports the team’s performance.Interfaces include Major Pursuits Team Europe, Work Winning community, Business Lines, CAMs, commercial and legal teams, capture managers and senior Europe/India leadership.Additional InformationAECOM is a Fortune 500 firm delivering professional services across the project lifecycle.
