Clinical Scientist – Autoimmune & Inflammatory Diseases
Oxford, UK (Hybrid) Contract 12-18 months
Innovative Biotech – Immunology Focus
A leading biotech company focused on modulating immune cell metabolism is seeking a Clinical Scientist to join its clinical development team. This is a unique opportunity to shape early- to late-stage clinical programs and help advance novel small molecule therapies for chronic autoimmune and inflammatory conditions.
The Opportunity
In this strategic and hands-on role, you’ll play a critical part in designing, executing, and guiding clinical trials. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional experts to help drive therapies from translational development through to regulatory submission.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Development & Strategy
- Contribute to clinical development plans, indication selection, and dose selection strategies
- Draft and review clinical study synopses and protocols (internally or via CROs)
- Monitor competitive clinical landscape and provide strategic insights
Biomarker & Translational Integration
- Lead the design and implementation of biomarker strategies supporting early-phase endpoints
- Partner with translational and research teams to ensure scientific alignment
External Engagement
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with KOLs and investigational sites
- Provide scientific oversight to CROs, vendors, and consultants
Data Interpretation & Reporting
- Oversee the review and interpretation of trial data
- Collaborate with biostatistics and data science to draw meaningful conclusions
- Ensure accuracy and quality of Clinical Study Reports (CSRs)
Regulatory & Safety Support
- Contribute to regulatory submissions and agency interactions (e.g., Scientific Advice, Pre-IND)
- Support safety review processes and adverse event assessments
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Provide clinical insight across functions including preclinical, regulatory, translational, and commercial
- Help align clinical strategy with broader development and business goals
Your Background
- PhD or MD in a relevant scientific field
- Demonstrated experience as a Clinical Scientist in autoimmune or inflammatory disease programs
- Strong background in clinical trial design and protocol development, ideally from translational through Phase III
- Expertise in immunology, with experience in atopic dermatitis or psoriatic arthritis
- Solid understanding of regulatory processes and agency interactions
- Experience working with small molecule therapies
- Proactive, collaborative mindset with strong communication and analytical skills
