Project

We are looking for a strong design management professional, with a background in delivering higher education facilities, to lead the design on a new-build central London university.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing teams to deliver key outcomes and contributing to the strategic development of design management systems.
  • Provides leadership and direction through managers, delivering continuous improvements in processes through application of best practices and lessons learned and business improvement, delivering distinctive value for clients.
  • Oversee the portfolio programme for all projects and highlight opportunities or key challenges.
  • Engage with the client team for a successful journey on the project.
  • Leading and presenting management review data and key performance indicators (KPIs) to senior leadership.
  • Supporting business development and work-winning activities.
  • Delivering continuous improvements in processes through application of best practices and lessons learned.
  • Driving transformational change.
  • Responsible for ensuring the identification, development, and delivery of relevant training.
  • Ensuring management systems are followed during project lifecycle; roles and responsibilities are adhered to.
  • Is the focal point for design issues, ensuring client relationships are managed and maintained.
  • Providing leadership and strategic direction for all design engineering activities to team and external stakeholders.
  • Working collaboratively towards the common goal of net zero carbon transition, and sharing responsibility for the proactive identification and management of carbon emissions and reductions during delivery of work.

  • You will be responsible for project budgets and ensure operations are fiscally and ethically viable and meet organisational and legislative compliance obligations.
  • You will support the operations director and other senior stakeholders to directly influence long term development of strategy for a function or business unit, creating a sustainable business future.

  • You will collaborate with multiple internal and external stakeholders, up to C-Suite, to implement and manage our programmes.

You’ll need to have

  • Experience delivering higher education facilities.
  • Experience working for a Tier 1 contractor.
  • Experience working on large-scale projects >£200m.
  • Relevant experience to manage the discharge of building regulations principal designer duties on behalf of Mace.

You’ll also have

  • Membership of RIBA, MICE, CIBSE, CIOB, RICS, CIAT or equivalent demonstrable professional or personal development.
  • Extensive experience in the successful delivery phase of projects and programmes in the education sector.
  • Deep construction and consultancy expertise.
  • Knowledge of building safety legislation, building standards, construction contracts, professional appointments and health & safety legislation.
  • Leadership and management experience of large, diverse teams.
  • Experience of managing relationships with key senior stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of how carbon and sustainability considerations will shape the outlook of the projects you are working on.
