Overview

Recursion is seeking an Associate Director, Clinical Data Management who can lead and oversee end-to-end Clinical Data Management activities on assigned studies and programs. This role includes management of 3rd party data sources and serving as the SME for Data Management. You will lead initiatives for CDM within the Biometrics group and collaborate with cross-functional teams within the Clinical Development organization and the broader Data Science teams at Recursion. Daily responsibilities include managing CDM study activities and deliverables, document reviews, CRO oversight, timelines, and project risk management across multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

In This Role, You Will

  • Lead end-to-end Data Management activities with hands-on oversight of outsourced studies and external vendor activities. Proficiency in managing 3-4 outsourced programs simultaneously.
  • Represent Data Management in Clinical Study Meetings, ensuring alignment of data-related deliverables between the CRO and Recursion.
  • Collaborate with CRO and Recursion functional groups to complete EDC setup, database migrations/UAT, and systems such as IRT, ePRO, etc. Manage multiple vendor data streams for data retrieval and delivery to statistics programming.
  • Establish Vendor Oversight Plans and oversee Vendor Data Quality Reviews. Harmonize processes with other Recursion clinical programs where relevant.
  • Serve as SME for DM processes (EDC, external data standardization, collection, processing). Lead efforts with Biometrics and Clinical Development for CRF creation and Data Review Plans. Routinely provide study metrics and propose solutions for data handling issues.
  • Lead the creation and maintenance of Data Management documents (CDMP, CCGs, Data Review Plans, edit checks, listing review checks, data integration specs, data transfer specs, external reconciliation plans, SAE reconciliation guidelines, coding guidelines, database lock, checklists, and plans).
  • Coordinate with vendors to ensure data collection is compatible with clinical databases and meets SDTM requirements.
  • Think strategically and act as a cross-functional collaborator; coordinate with other functional groups for submission-related activities.
  • Manage data flow design across EDC and non-EDC data sources across vendor networks.
  • Ensure filing, archival, and inspection readiness of all Data Management TMF activities.
  • Review and manage external Data Management budgets, monitor trends, and support budget planning and forecasting.
  • Support the development of Clinical Data Management SOPs and Work Instructions, and ensure compliance with GCPs and applicable regulatory requirements.

The Team You’ll Join

Reporting to the Senior Director, Clinical Data Management and working closely with Biometrics, Clinical Operations, and Clinical Development, you will be a key member of the Recursion Development Team, contributing to translating Recursion’s science into clinical development activities.

The Experience You’ll Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in science, math, or computer science
  • 12+ years of experience in the biopharmaceutical industry; level determined by experience, technical proficiency, and people management skills
  • Experience managing external data and 3rd party vendors is required
  • Strong knowledge of regulations and guidelines applicable to clinical trials
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team

Working Location & Compensation

This position can be based at any Recursion office in London or Oxford. The role supports a hybrid model with 50% in-office time. Relocation support is available. The estimated current annual base salary range is:

  • £84,000–£98,900 GBP for candidates based in the United Kingdom
