Overview

Associate Director of Nursing within the Division of Surgery. The successful candidate will be an experienced, enthusiastic and highly motivated senior nurse who is passionate about ensuring the highest standard of care for every patient, every time. The post requires recent management experience and participation in the senior manager on call rota.

Responsibilities

  • Assist and support the Divisional Director of Nursing in the smooth running of the specialty within the clinical division, ensuring delivery of divisional goals and KPIs with a focus on excellent, sustainable care delivery.
  • Work closely with the Divisional Director of Nursing to support delivery of professional standards in clinical services.
  • Support staff and budget management to meet performance targets and strategic objectives, including managing capacity and demand to achieve national and local standards.

Job description and DBS

Please refer to the attached Job Description for further information about the Associate Director of Nursing position. A requirement for an enhanced DBS applies; the Trust will manage this cost and deduct it from salary over 3 months if applicable.

Qualifications, Experience & Training

Essential

  • Educated to Masters level (or able to work towards) or equivalent experience with a relevant professional qualification
  • Relevant registration (NMC/HCPC) with senior experience
  • Management experience at a senior clinical position (Matron level or above)
  • Experience in staff development/human resource management
  • Knowledge of safeguarding frameworks and collaboration with safeguarding teams
  • Evidence of ongoing continuing professional development and quality governance
  • Experience in budgeting and supporting delivery of CIP

Desirable

  • Additional management/leadership qualification
  • Dual qualification – Registered Nurse
  • Experience working in NHS or non-NHS partnerships

Other requirements

Essential: Travel between Trust sites, ability to work flexible hours and fulfil on-call/site management commitments; alignment to Trust PROUD values; capable of transformational leadership and positive service improvement; capable of handling challenging situations professionally.

Desirable: Demonstrated work/life balance and teamwork, leadership, and stress management activities.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Senior clinical management experience; budget management and staff development
  • Knowledge of safeguarding frameworks and ability to collaborate withNamed Nurse/Named Midwife/Safeguarding teams
  • Evidence of quality improvement, patient involvement and evidence-based practice
  • Effective communication, reporting, and business case development
  • Experience implementing change and service redesign
