Position Description
QIAGEN Manchester is a world leading centre for molecular diagnostic applications, expanding and enhancing the delivery of life-improving diagnostic systems for existing and emerging medical needs, focusing on the development of precision diagnostics to support the development and commercialization of therapeutics in partnership with pharmaceutical companies. Our team of Project Managers works within the global Partnering for Precision Diagnostics (PPD) organization with cross-functional teams, leading and driving projects to develop QIAGEN diagnostics platforms and Companion Diagnostics assays via contracts with Pharma Partners. Project management is a recognised professional career pathway in its own right, reporting directly into the PPD portfolio. We are seeking an experienced Project Manager at Associate Director level. This role requires autonomy, entrepreneurial thinking, and the ability to manage dynamic and complex projects with decisions and risk-taking aligned to the success of our Pharma Partners therapies. While the role has no line management responsibility, the successful candidate will provide guidance and support to other team members and supporting functions. The role includes goals for continued process improvement of Pharma project management, focusing on efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Work within a matrix organisation to manage cross-divisional product development projects with a business-focused mindset.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure project goals are met (time, budget, quality) and project documentation and reporting are completed to a high standard.
- Apply project management methods and tools in accordance with QIAGEN standards and applicable regulatory standards.
- Identify and escalate critical issues, evaluate risks, and define risk mitigation plans.
Position Requirements
- Degree in a Life Science subject or equivalent experience. Project management qualifications (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2, APMP) are advantageous but not essential.
- Experience in product development of IVDs, molecular diagnostics, or medical devices is essential.
- Proven track record in project management within a regulated environment.
- Significant experience working with cross-divisional teams and the ability to build effective internal and external relationships.
- Desirable: familiarity with Design Controls for medical devices (21 CFR 820, ISO 13485, ISO 14971).
