Role Summary

Russell Investments is seeking a hands-on, strategic Senior Social Media Strategist to lead, shape, and execute on the firm’s global social media program. While based in London, this role partners across regions to ensure alignment and consistency, balancing global strategy with region-specific execution. The remit is global in scope, but designed as a player/coach role – strategic leadership paired with day-to-day execution, setting enterprise-wide strategy while actively producing, optimizing, and amplifying content across platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Drive day-to-day execution and platform performance, while also leading governance, cross-functional integration, and long-term planning.
  • Manage the global Digital Media Manager and contribute hands-on work when needed, including writing copy, testing content formats, partnering on campaigns, and measuring outcomes.
  • Collaborate with Corporate Communications and the Content, Marketing, and Digital Experience teams to align social media with the broader content strategy and ensure consistency and impact across all channels.
  • Ensure a compelling, compliant, and credible social media presence across regions; elevate executive and employee voices through high-quality content.
  • Define channel-specific KPIs with the head of data analytics and report performance regularly.
  • Run ongoing tests to optimize creative, cadence, and content format.

Qualifications

  • Significant experience in social media or digital communications, ideally in financial services, asset management, or another regulated industry.
  • Experience managing social media strategy and content in global and regional contexts.
  • Skilled at creating compelling, concise content across platforms, especially LinkedIn and YouTube.
  • Comfortable working with compliance and cross-functional partners to interpret and apply regulatory guidance.
  • Familiarity with enterprise tools (e.g., Sprout Social, social listening, CMS (Adobe), and analytics platforms).
  • Strong writing, editing, and project management skills.
  • Able to translate business goals into compliant, impactful content strategies across global platforms.
  • Confident in influencing senior stakeholders.
  • Deep knowledge of social media strategy, analytics, governance, and best practices in regulated industries.
  • Proven ability to innovate within compliance frameworks and navigate differing regional priorities.
  • Works effectively across geographies and functions (Content Marketing, Digital, Compliance).
  • Builds trust and alignment with stakeholders and treats social media as a strategic asset.
  • Uses data to drive decision-making, optimize performance, and clearly demonstrate ROI of social programs.
