OverviewKPMG's Infrastructure and Government Strategic Advisory Services (SAS) team needs talented individuals who have a passion for built infrastructure. Our team supports government and infrastructure clients with their most complex strategic challenges. We get involved in many fascinating projects. We develop strategies for the implementation of policy, designing operating models to underpin delivery of public services. We also advise on project delivery models and commercial strategies that enable clients to achieve their strategic objectives. We are working on some fascinating public issues including Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) implications for the public sector and its partners, the future transportation, and how to deliver some of the largest and most complex infrastructure programmes in the UK.RoleWe are looking for an Associate Director to play a leading role in designing and delivering work with infrastructure clients. We require someone who can play a major role in driving our business forward, in-line with our ambitious development strategy. You should have demonstrable experience in one or more of our key propositions and ideally experience of developing pitches and proposals to win new work. You will lead our client engagements.ResponsibilitiesLead the design and delivery of engagements (including issue identification, approach to problem-solving and complex storyboarding)Be responsible for day-to-day management of a number of (potentially concurrent) engagements and leading teamsBe comfortable handling ambiguity and changing client demandsComplete and take responsibility for KPMG's 'Engagement Management' procedures (for example, managing scope within budget and timetable)Lead diverse teams to bring a variety of perspectives and insights to clients and share experience across the teamAdopt an inclusive and collaborative approach to team managementCoach and support junior colleagues in the development of their careersBuild deep client relationships and be seen as the 'go to' person and a trusted adviser by our clientsProactively identify and manage sell-on and cross-sell opportunitiesSupport the identification, pursuit and conversion of new business development opportunities which align with the team business planProactively develop thought leadership and contribute to practice development initiativesMinimum of 5 years relevant work experience, including experience in consulting such as big 4 or big 3, engineering consultancy, or client-sideExperience in the energy or water sector is a mustDetailed knowledge of infrastructure sectors and how they operate. Utilities and defence are of particular advantage.Comfortable handling ambiguity and changing client demandsEvidence of strong problem-solving and analytical capabilitiesStrong network within infrastructure or government sectors and the ability to spot and seize business opportunitiesFirst-hand experience and credibility advising senior / Exec-level stakeholdersThe ability to understand policy or strategic direction for an infrastructure client and translate into complex operating model design and implementationSound practical knowledge of issues facing infrastructure programmes / clients, latest industry policy and good practiceLeading and developing high performing and inclusive teamsStrong numerical capabilities combined with sound commercial acumenExcellent English language written and oral communication skillsWe are happy to consider flexible working arrangements.
