Associate Director (Structures / Bridges)We are seeking an experienced Associate Director level (Structures / Bridges) professional to provide strategic and technical leadership across a diverse portfolio of railway and civil infrastructure projects. This senior role combines technical authority, project delivery oversight, client engagement, and business growth responsibilities. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping and expanding our capability, while ensuring projects are delivered to the highest standards of safety, quality, and innovation.ResponsibilitiesTechnical & Project Leadership: Act as technical and design lead on the delivery of civil and structural engineering projects; oversee and mentor multi-disciplinary engineering project teams; provide senior review and approval of engineering deliverables, ensuring compliance with UK standards; lead design assurance, constructability reviews, risk assessments, and technical governance; support construction phases through oversight, technical advice, and resolution of complex engineering challenges.Business & Client Development: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, including infrastructure management companies, transport authorities, local authorities and major contractors; support the preparation of bids, tenders, and frameworks; identify new business opportunities and contribute to the strategic direction of the team.Commercial & Strategic Management: Take responsibility for project financial performance (budgeting, forecasting, profitability); support resource planning, fee proposals, and contract negotiations; mentor and develop engineers and project managers; promote knowledge-sharing, technical excellence, and continuous professional development; foster a collaborative and inclusive culture aligned with company values.Qualifications / ExperienceDegree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.Chartered Engineer (CEng MICE or MIStructE) essential.Experience in infrastructure design at a senior level, with significant time in management roles.
