About this opportunity

The Transaction Banking Products team delivers commercial banking solutions to businesses of all sizes, both in the UK and internationally. Our offering spans Trade & Working Capital and Payments & Cash Management. We assist businesses in managing liquidity, completing payments, optimizing cashflow, mitigating risks, and funding trade flows and assets.

Our business contributes 40% of Corporate & Institutional Banking (CIB) income, highlighting its strategic importance. We’re at a pivotal moment in our journey, investing significantly in people, data and technology. These investments are driving innovation, unlocking new opportunities and transforming how our teams work, learn and thrive.

You’ll join the Commercial Development team, which is responsible for three key strategic pillars:

  • Business & Financial Strategy,
  • Commercial Engagement, and
  • People Strategy.

We’re looking for someone who thinks commercially, has financial abilities, and has demonstrated experience in business and financial strategy. Your primary focus will be contributing to the Investment & strategy activity; however, you\'ll be expected to also play a supporting role in initiatives across the other pillars.

This is a high-profile role with regular exposure to senior leadership, ideal for a high-performing Associate Director. You’ll be part of a dynamic, purpose-led team that values diversity, innovation, and customer-centric thinking, in line with our broader mission: Helping Britain Prosper.

Role Accountabilities

The Commercial Development team operates across a wide range of activities. You\'ll need to be prepared to jump into, and take ownership across, a broad spectrum of work - though your main accountabilities will be:

  • Support the Director on 2030 strategy, business case modelling and funding requests.
  • Assist in monitoring Group Strategic Investment performance, including updates for Accountable Executive.
  • Provide support on a wide range of cross-product projects
  • Face into central initiatives, including system-generated forecasting and pipeline dashboard development
  • Input to / lead financial performance activities, including:
  • Monthly business performance reviews
  • Build out and management of Key Business Performance Indicators
  • Briefing materials for Management Director ahead of strategic forums
  • In-depth analysis of important data and upcoming challenges

What you’ll need

  • Solid grasp of Transaction Banking Products.
  • Proven ability interrogating financial data and advanced financial modelling.
  • Experience in business performance management.
  • A strategic approach with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams, and successfully influence key stakeholders across the organisation
  • Excellent communication and collaborator management skills.
  • An understanding of capital, liquidity and pricing (beneficial but not essential).

We offer reasonable workplace adjustments for colleagues with disabilities, including flexibility in office attendance, location and working patterns. And, as a Disability Confident Leader, we guarantee interviews for a fair and proportionate number of applicants who meet the minimum criteria for the role with a disability, long-term health or neurodivergent condition through the Disability Confident Scheme.
