About Encord

At Encord, we're building the AI infrastructure of the future. One of the biggest challenges AI companies face today is data quality. The success of any AI application relies heavily on the quality of its training data, yet for most teams, this crucial step is both the most costly and time-consuming. We’re here to change that.

As former computer scientists, physicists, and quants, we’ve experienced firsthand how a lack of tools to prepare quality training data impedes progress in building AI. We believe AI is at a stage similar to the early days of computing or the internet—where the potential is clear, but the surrounding tools and processes are still catching up. That\'s why we started Encord. We are a talented and ambitious team of 100+, backed by $30M in Series B funding, and we’re expanding our Engineering team to build a better product for our customers.

What to Expect

• High performing team: You\'ll join a small team that has built a product our customers love and consistently rate as the best in the market. Team members come from both Big Tech and successful startups.
• Impact: Your work will have direct and tangible impact for customers and influence the company\'s trajectory.
• End-to-end ownership: You will own projects end-to-end, including product, design, architecture, deployment, monitoring, and measuring impact on users. You will work across the stack, from deployment to styling, and are expected to take initiative and continuously seek improvements.
• Autonomy and collaboration: You will often work autonomously, but in a lean, high-trust team you will collaborate and learn from amazing teammates.
• Scale and simplicity: You will tackle complex domains and scale with simple solutions, using your expertise to solve challenging problems.

About You

• Are experienced: You have developed or significantly contributed to multiple systems from scratch or major changes to existing systems; you understand trade-offs for reliable, performant software at speed.
• Seek high impact: You want your work to have a tangible outcome for people and a meaningful product impact.
• Are a builder: You enjoy building across the stack and solving problems from first principles; you\'re ready to learn new skills and move quickly.
• Are comfortable with uncertainty: You tackle problems without predefined definitions and are excited to have autonomy to decide as you go.
• Are a team player: You contribute your best work and help others do the same, collaborating effectively within a high-performing team.

Tech stack

We are technology agnostic. Current codebase uses Python and TypeScript. Prior experience is appreciated but not required. We encourage openness to learning.

• Backend: Python
• Frontend: TypeScript and React
• Kubernetes for deployment
• GCP for underlying infrastructure
• Machine Learning: PyTorch, CUDA, Ray
