OverviewAssociate / Associate Director role at WSP. You will provide technical leadership to our design and assessment teams and use your knowledge and skills to deliver the right quality to time and budget. You will lead design teams and mentor junior team members.ResponsibilitiesTechnical leadership of bridge/civil engineering design and assessment projects in the UK and overseasProject reviews to optimise solutions and co-ordinate multi-disciplinary inputsManaging resources and developing relationships with other teamsAgreeing fees and managing the commercial position on projectsLeading a culture of technical review and challengeDeveloping client relationships and leading tenders/bidsSupervision and mentoring of junior membersWhat we’re looking forChartered Civil or Structural Engineer with experience in bridge design, maintenance and assessment, gained from both construction sites and the design officePractical knowledge and experience of project management of bridge projectsProven knowledge in design, maintenance and supervision of structures with a track record of innovation in design and management of structures (new build, maintenance, assessment and strengthening of bridges and civil structures)Working knowledge of the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) and Manual of Contract Documents for Highway Works (MCDHW) related to structural schemesUnderstanding and experience of use of Eurocodes and their application to bridge designExperience of design in or assessment of steel, reinforced and prestressed concrete bridge structuresExperience of grillage, space frame and finite element analysis software packages such as LUSAS, Superstress and SAMGood communication, client handling and interpersonal skills; willingness to adapt to new challenges and contribute to the bridges team’s developmentDon’t quite meet all the criteria?
