Responsibilities
- Pivotal role in pre- and post-contract Quantity Surveying (QS) services to clients, including estimating, procurement, cost and commercial management assurance of projects ranging in size and complexity.
- Deliver QS/commercial projects, lead a QS/commercial team, train and mentor staff, bid writing, winning work, people leadership and management, representing WSP UK at industry events.
- Join a diverse, growing team of Quantity Surveyors specialising in estimating and cost management, who work across highways, structures, public realm, property and maritime.
- Be part of our Project Management and Commercial Management Team (PMCM) – about 400 colleagues across the UK. The team provides Quantity Surveying/Cost and Commercial Management, Programme and Project Management and Project Controls services to Building and Infrastructure projects for public and private clients. You will be within the Civil Infrastructure and Utilities group; other PMCM groups are Buildings, Programme Solutions and Rail.
- You will be based in one of our offices in Manchester, Birmingham, Teesside, Bristol or Guildford, near public transport and local amenities.

Essential qualifications
- MRICS.
- Ability to demonstrate applicable knowledge, ability and experience with estimating at various design stages, digital tools, procurement and pre and post cost and commercial management.
- Significant experience in cost analysis and benchmarking.
- Familiarity with CostX and CEMAR.
- Where applicable, have demonstrable management, project leadership and delivery experience in cost and/or commercial matters at senior level.
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Have strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a keen attention to detail.
- Are passionate about making a difference and want to be part of a dynamic team.
- Are not afraid to challenge the status quo to try innovative solutions and learn from past experiences.
- Able to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Have proven organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Working knowledge/experience of NEC Contracts and other industry standard contract forms.
- Adaptable and flexible approach to workload.
- Ability to travel from base office or home to site, client/project team offices, other WSP offices, and project locations.
Desirable qualifications
- Have previous experience of working in our emerging sectors of water and energy.
- AssocRICS working towards MRICS or have an alternative, relevant, professional qualification or working towards (e.g. CICES, AcostE).
- Hold a degree, or similar higher education academic qualification.
