Title: Business Development Director
Reports to: EMEA Head of Business Development GCM
Location: London
37.5 hours per week
Hybrid
This role involves working with colleagues across Global Capital Markets (“GCM”) to grow new revenue. The Business Development Director (BDD) should have a deep understanding of capital markets and be able to sell GCM’s full product suite. The BDD will work on various opportunities to support the business’s organic growth and adapt to client needs and regulatory requirements. The role requires an independent, self-starting attitude within a supportive environment.
GCM’s product suite includes corporate services for securitisations, orphan SPVs, project finance, escrow, corporate trust, bond issuance services, cash management for credit funds, loan agency, loan administration, restructuring services, and custody for alternative assets like carbon credits.
Key responsibilities:
- Proactively grow new business revenue through direct origination
- Develop and maintain a network of external business referrers
- Create sales and calling plans, coordinate with peers to execute these plans
- Primary focus on Southern Europe (Spain, Portugal, Italy)
- Liaise with internal and external teams for compliance, transaction management, client relations, and finance
- Assist in other jurisdictions as needed
- Prepare quotations, presentations, and business development materials
- Represent the business at industry forums, conferences, and seminars
- Assess risks of new business opportunities
- Contribute to GCM’s commercial strategy for revenue growth
- Support development of new product areas like loan agency and restructuring services
- Monitor market trends to guide strategic decisions
- Build relationships within GCM and the wider CSC group
- Increase responsiveness to communications
- Organize meetings with business partners and clients
- Handle operational issues proactively
- Work closely with transaction teams to facilitate deal closures and post-deal relationships
