Job Description

WSP GL Hearn is seeking an ambitious and experienced rating surveyor with a passion for retail to support the growth of their market-leading rating business. The role involves delivering existing work and developing new business in anticipation of the 2023 Revaluation and planning for 2026.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide bespoke rates appeal and mitigation advice to major investor and occupier clients within the leisure sector.
• Manage and grow your client base and case load, taking on more responsibility with experience.
• Develop strong relationships with clients.
• Assist with rating advice to developers and landlords throughout the development cycle, including appeals and mitigation strategies.
• Oversee the preparation of Valuation Tribunal procedural documents.
• Foster connections within the WSP network to promote business rates services.

Candidate Profile

• Excellent knowledge of the UK leisure market.
• Familiarity with receipts and expenditure valuation methods.
• Entrepreneurial with business development skills.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
• Attention to detail and IT proficiency (Word, Excel, Outlook; familiarity with Riverlake and Analyse software is beneficial).
• MRICS qualified.
• Experience in rating advice and appeals negotiation.
• Knowledge of rating legislation and case law.
