Chief Financial Officer

Recruiting within the KW, IV, PH, FK, PA, G, ML, KA & DG postcodes.

Overview

If you're a top quality Chief Financial Officer / Finance Director who wants something different from a normal corporate life, or an independent CFO, or a working/returning CFO parent seeking more work flexibility and work-life balance, then read on – this might be for you.

You'll provide CFO services to ambitious £2-50M private businesses, helping business owners to climb their Everest. This role is for someone who is not just looking for a job but for a meaningful portfolio of clients and a long-term partnership with them.

You'll be a self-starter with ambition, energy and a can-do attitude, passionate about helping clients – typically business owners, entrepreneurs, CEOs or MDs – to achieve their goals. You will thrive on the challenge and autonomy of growing your own portfolio of clients, supported by an incredible network of CFOs based across the world. We have big dreams, and we expect you to have the same.

Responsibilities

Grow and manage your own portfolio of client companies as a part-time CFO/FD operating within a defined model, delivering strategic financial leadership to mid-sized businesses. Define and deliver the numbers that matter: help clients identify the metrics that drive growth, acquisitions, consolidation, or lifestyle goals, and execute on those plans. Act as a partner to business owners, CEOs/MDs, and the regional team to provide ongoing financial guidance and support.

Collaborate with a regional director and a team of CFO/FDs in a collaborative environment. Contribute to a culture that values family and a great place to work, with a focus on long-term client relationships.

What you need to have

  • Qualified from one of the UK’s major chartered accounting institutes
  • Experience as a real-life CFO/FD (one or more times) with strong experience in commercial finance, business strategy and a proven track record
  • The ability to build genuine long-lasting client relationships – the “special sauce” is relationship-building
  • Part CFO, part advisor, part strategist, part partner to clients

The role is self-employed, operating within a defined model, combining team support with autonomy in how you deliver outcomes for clients. You will build a portfolio career that offers variety, challenge and flexibility.
