Overview Role: Children Panel Member Director Leading law firm seeking dedicated Children Panel Directors (x2) for a highly sought permanent position. Family & Children Department Background: The Family & Children law department is ranked and recognised by The Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners for family and matrimonial work, providing confidential advice with effective representation. The team includes practitioners with Law Society Children Law and Family Law Advanced accreditations, offering advocacy in all court proceedings and ensuring consistent, professional service and continuity. The department also supports high net worth individuals in divorce matters with specialist divorce solicitors, covering domestic abuse, adoption, child abduction, prohibitive steps orders, specific issues orders, injunctions, spousal and child maintenance, properties, pensions and freezing injunctions. Main Duties and Responsibilities
Report directly to and collaborate with the Board to ensure performance targets are met Be responsible for all aspects of Child Care work, providing technical expertise and guidance to other team members Manage and supervise Solicitors, Trainee Solicitors and Caseworkers to handle appropriate caseload types and complexities Assist with delivery of training and development in the department Handle a range of public and private children cases including child abduction, child protection issues, special guardianship and adoption matters, and undertake advocacy Demonstrate a proactive approach, strong client care skills and an interest in business development and marketing to supplement high volumes of work
Key Skills Required
3+ years’ PQE Registered with the Law Society; Children Panel Membership desirable Committed and highly driven Clean, valid Practising Certificate at the time of applying Strong management skills Team player with ability to address team concerns fairly, foster positive change and encourage cross referrals Proven supervisory experience with ability to work to key performance indicators Professional with proactive approach; excellent client care skills and ability to deal with vulnerable clients and resolve complex Child Care issues Excellent networking and communication skills with the ability to market the firm and generate new business Working knowledge of publicly funded Child Care work and ability to service privately funded cases Extensive experience in all Child Care work with some expertise in adoption matters Experience in own advocacy is an advantage Excellent IT skills with familiarity in Microsoft Office and document management
