Overview

We’re seeking someone to join our team as a Client Onboarding and Regulatory Services Director in ISG Product Operations (ISGPO).

ISGPO is a global team responsible for Morgan Stanley's Client Onboarding & Regulatory Services operational processes and delivering value to clients in a controlled and efficient way. The group operates within ISGPO and partners closely with Legal and Compliance and Risk Management to help the Firm comply with regulatory obligations related to client data and documentation, CIP, KYC requirements, and other non-AML-KYC regulatory requirements. It facilitates CIP during client onboarding and ongoing periodic KYC reviews. We focus on delivering quality service to clients both internal and external.

In the Operations division, we partner with business units to support financial transactions, implement strong controls, and develop client relationships, driving strategic automation and transformation.

This is a Director position within Core Services, responsible for performing and managing product-agnostic and centralized operational services across several businesses and products.

Since 1935, Morgan Stanley has been a global leader in financial services, evolving to serve clients and communities in more than 40 countries.

What You’ll Do

  • Work with Global Risk Managers to perform risk reviews and improve the control environment across multiple work streams and initiatives.
  • Design and implement approaches for strategic initiatives and lead and coordinate global risk and project agendas.
  • Manage short- and long-term strategic and tactical projects to reduce risk.
  • Assist line managers in streamlining procedures by tracking manual processes and implementing guidance, best practices, or policies, providing a risk and control opinion.
  • Coordinate the annual RCSA (risk and control self-assessment), capture updates from line teams, review and analyze control assessments, and work with teams to implement remediation actions.
  • Assist in internal and external audits, discuss potential findings, and contribute to finalizing audit reports as needed.
  • Support line teams and supervise migration of procedures to strategic locations, highlighting risks and working with lines to implement solutions.
  • Analyze incidents to determine root cause, control breakdowns, impact, and preventative actions; propose process improvements and guide incident management.
  • Contribute to monthly risk packs for CORS and other metrics for management transparency.
  • Monitor exception remediation plans (e.g., Segregation of Duty, RECAP action plans).
  • Provide targeted risk and project training.
  • Address ad-hoc risk and projects questions from the line.
  • Participate in regional ORRC initiatives and cascade them globally among stakeholders.
  • Contribute to senior management risk reporting, including analysis, trending, exception management, and commentary.
  • Pre-Policy & Procedure review and disclosure of exclusions.
  • Manage EUC inventory, action planning, and entitlements (e.g., Segregation of Duties remediation).
  • RCSA program participation and support.

What You’ll Bring In The Role

  • Strong risk management and control mindset.
  • Ability to evaluate and identify risks across the organization and implement best practices; help shape the risk and project agenda.
  • Flexibility to add value across the wide scope of CORS; the scope is limited by the incumbent’s capacity.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and adapt to changing priorities with strong organizational skills.
  • Effective and confident communication across all levels, including senior leadership.
  • Good interpersonal skills to build cross-divisional relationships with key stakeholders (Business Units, Operations, Global Financial Crimes, Legal & Compliance).
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to present information clearly for decision-making.
  • Ability to deliver on plans, complete next steps, and resolve issues promptly.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
