Role Summary
Commercial Director - Allianz Personal Broker. Reporting to the Managing Director of Allianz Personal Broker, the Commercial Director will lead the delivery of commercial outcomes for the AzP Broker business plan, working with the AzP Broker Leadership Team to contribute to, and where appropriate lead, the strategy and plan for the AzP Broker business.
As a member of the AzP Broker Leadership Team you will ensure regulatory, AZUK Holdings and Allianz Group obligations are met, and you will lead Allianz’s market distribution and trading presence in collaboration with the AzP Broker Managing Director and the AzP Distribution Director to benefit customers and Allianz.
Key Accountabilities
- Deliver the AzP Broker P&L aligned to the overall business strategy at UK and Global Distribution levels, and deliver the plan through collaboration with AzP Broker Leadership, Allianz Group stakeholders and external partners.
- Develop insights, propositions and capabilities to improve profitability and growth, enabling Allianz Personal Broker to grow market share and meet ROE targets.
- Lead and direct market-leading underwriting, pricing and operational capability to deliver the UK plans aligned with strategies and ensure effective implementation.
- Develop customer service-led business models for clients and brokers; coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure service delivery aligns with the defined strategy for each market.
- Coordinate with pricing, underwriting, finance and other partners to contribute to quarterly reserving processes and monitor customer complaints.
- Engage with GSMD and other Group areas to input into Global Broker growth.
- Provide visibility of new initiatives and opportunities to improve the AzP Broker P&L; communicate impact of changes to the business.
- Represent the Broker MD in AzP Broker input into the Smart Circle, ensuring assumptions are relevant for the broker business.
- Demonstrate leadership aligned to Allianz values; promote employee engagement through clear objectives, communication and visibility; develop talent through recruitment, training and development.
- Adhere to agreed expense budgets and ensure internal and regulatory governance standards are applied consistently.
Technical Skills
- Understanding of the risk and regulatory environment.
- Strong technical capability and account management in general insurance; ability to translate into P&L management and actionable outcomes.
- Distribution expertise and knowledge of the UK personal lines market; relationship management skills.
- Ability to implement Group policies and strategies within AzP Broker; set UK distribution strategy and regulatory standards.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to influence across hierarchies and sites.
- Financial Conduct Authority Approved Person, compliant with the Principles and Codes of Practice for Approved Persons.
Experience
- In-depth knowledge of the general insurance marketplace, distribution landscape, regulation and trends.
- Ability to develop strategies to improve performance in response to customer needs and business direction.
- Experience expanding and managing traditional distribution channels.
Qualifications
- Degree desirable or equivalent qualification with relevant post-qualification experience.
- ACII or MBA desirable but not compulsory.
- Strong financial acumen, including Financial Tools for Account Managers.
