At the Money and Pensions Service (MaPS), we’re on a mission to improve financial wellbeing across the UK. We’re looking for an exceptional strategic leader to join our Executive Leadership Team as Corporate Director, Strategy and Impact, a role that sits at the heart of shaping MaPS’ long-term direction, influence, and performance.
About the Role
This is a pivotal, high-impact position that will steer MaPS’ corporate strategy, drive forward our policy development, champion the use of evidence and evaluation, and ensure we can clearly demonstrate the impact of our work.You will also lead our strategic stakeholder engagement, ensuring MaPS is positioned as a trusted and influential partner across the financial wellbeing landscape.
Reporting to the Executive Director for Strategy, Policy and Governance, you will lead a talented team and work across the organisation to help MaPS to maximise its influence and effectiveness for the people we serve.
You’ll provide trusted, visible leadership to ensure MaPS is aligned, insight-driven, and delivering meaningful outcomes for the millions of people who rely on our services. You’ll advise the Executive Committee and Board, drive system-wide thinking, and help future-proof the organisation as we evolve to meet emerging challenges.
Key Areas of Leadership
- Strategy: Lead the development and delivery of MaPS’ corporate aligning activity to our statutory remit and national priorities.
- Policy & Influence: Shape policy positions that support financial wellbeing, and foster strong relationships with government, regulators and key partners.
- Impact & Evaluation: Embed insight, data and evaluation at the core of decision-making, ensuring we can clearly demonstrate and communicate the impact of our work.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Oversee strategic engagement with senior stakeholders to amplify MaPS’ influence and visibility.
- Team Leadership: Inspire inclusive, high-performing teams across strategy, policy, impact, and engagement.
What You’ll Bring
We’re looking for someone who combines strategic vision with delivery focus, and has a deep understanding of operating in complex, system-facing environments.
You will have:
- A track record of strategic leadership in public service, policy, or systems-level environments.
- Proven experience influencing senior stakeholders and shaping long-term policy agendas.
- Strong analytical and insight-led thinking with a focus on outcomes and impact.
- Demonstrated success translating strategy into delivery.
- Inclusive leadership experience, with a passion for developing diverse, empowered teams.
- Confidence working in ambiguity, bringing alignment, momentum, and clarity.
- Understanding of financial wellbeing, regulated services, or public sector delivery.
- Experience in or around arm’s-length bodies or strategic government partners.
