Job Description

  • Job Title – Corporate Finance Associate Director/Director (open to recruiting an existing Director or an experienced Associate Director with near‑term promotion aspirations)
  • Location – Bristol
  • Job Type – Permanent, Full Time

Role Overview

  • Work closely with a Partner, lead transaction execution, acting as key client contact and driving the transaction timetable.
  • Review the work of junior team members, supervise and provide guidance on complex areas.
  • Lead commercial negotiation activities such as SPA, deal structure, and Locked Box.
  • Prepare and review key documents (business plans, information memoranda, Heads of Terms, financial forecasts), contributing significantly to deal strategy and tactics.
  • Build rapport with clients, understand their business, and design project plans to achieve their ambitions.
  • Coordinate research of potential buyers, manage the exchange of information, and maintain detailed knowledge of commercial deal structures and fund flows.

Business Development

  • Develop and cultivate a network of professionals and corporates to generate leads and potential client work.
  • Lead production of pitches and presentations to potential clients, forming views on deal strategy, process recommendations, and valuation conclusions.
  • Take responsibility for agreed areas of origination and business development.

Team Management

  • Take a leadership, strategic direction and management role within the Corporate Finance team.
  • Supervise and manage junior team members, including resource planning, performance management, training, and promotion recommendations.
  • Act as a mentor, modeling best behaviours and providing coaching to support personal career growth.
  • Identify opportunities for junior team members to develop skills and experience, and seek and act on feedback from all levels.

Risk & Quality

  • Act with integrity at all times and comply with internal and external risk management procedures.
  • Ensure quality on all client deliverables.
  • Maintain awareness of and compliance with FCA Conduct rules and FRP Fit & Proper Persons test.
  • Follow all appropriate take‑on and risk management processes, including AML, on all client projects.
  • Seek training where required to refresh knowledge.

Qualifications

  • ACA / ACCA qualified, or equivalent.

Experience

  • Strong transactional capability and thorough working knowledge of sell‑side and buy‑side corporate finance advisory activities, including MBO and PE.
  • Commercial acumen to understand what contributes to a business’s success and what makes it attractive to investors or buyers.
  • Ability to identify key targets for immediate M&A activity and an origination capability.
  • Demonstrated team management experience.

Skills

  • Track record of origination of deal opportunities and new relationships leading to potential transactions.
  • Confidence in client situations, gaining client acceptance and demonstrating value through advice and transaction insight.
  • Sound commercial judgement and a creative problem‑solving approach.
  • Strong Word and PowerPoint skills, along with numerical, financial, and modelling expertise.
  • Ability to produce high quality professional documents, with excellent report writing and presentation skills.
  • Problem‑identification and solution development ability.
  • Capacity to handle multiple projects simultaneously under demanding timetables.
