CST is the market leader in spinal implants, robotics, and navigation. In Western Europe, our operating unit is comprised of Spine and Biologics and Enabling Technologies. This is a leadership role to oversee all aspects of the business.As CST Country Business Director, the successful candidate will report to the VP of CST International.We look for leaders who have a clear vision of where we are going and how to get there, bold inclusive thinkers who create new ideas and bring our best solutions forward to benefit our patients, business partners, and customers.ResponsibilitiesAs CST Business Director, you will lead the strategic direction and execution of Medtronic’s CST Operating Unit (OU) in your assigned country or cluster. You will be responsible for full P&L ownership, driving commercial and marketing excellence, and aligning cross-functional teams to achieve financial targets and sustainable growth. This role requires close collaboration with Western Europe leaders, country teams, and support functions.Develop and execute commercial strategies to achieve both short-term performance and long-term growth for the Operating Unit (OU).Directly contribute to the attainment of financial and operational goals, aligning with Medtronic’s overall objectives.Set and monitor budgets, KPIs, and success metrics to drive accountability and performance.Ensure sales strategies are aligned with OU and global priorities; support field teams with the right tools, training, and resources.Oversee new product/market introductions, sales training, key customer visits, and participation in industry events and congresses.Provide strategic direction for business development, marketing plan implementation, and market expansion.Maintain and evolve long-term sales and marketing plans, adapting to market trends and customer needs.Champion initiatives that differentiate the OU’s value proposition beyond products—such as physician education and training programs.Represent the OU in global and regional forums, sharing insights and aligning on strategic direction.Build and nurture strong relationships with key decision-makers, influencers, and opinion leaders in the healthcare ecosystem.Coordinate customer engagement across sales and marketing functions to ensure a unified and consistent approach.Stay informed on industry developments, competitive dynamics, and evolving customer expectations.Collaborate with Western Europe Marketing to localize and implement global strategies effectively.Support quality and compliance processes, including complaint handling and corrective actions.Provide market intelligence and competitive insights through collaboration with the marketing team.Lead and manage a country-based team: Oversee performance, talent development, diversity and inclusion, and communication of business and operational developments. Goal achievement is accomplished through direct and/or indirect reports, with occasional direct sales participation as appropriate.Drive operational excellence: Make significant operational decisions, allocate resources, and operationalize organizational policies in alignment with strategic priorities.Communicate with senior leadership: Conduct briefings and influence across functions to negotiate and gain cooperation on operational issues and internal objectives.Workforce planning: Create staffing plans, authorize hiring, promotions, and rewards, and coach/mentor key team members.Change & Transformation LeadershipAct as a change agent, leading strategic and cultural transformation initiatives across the organization.Drive the evolution of customer partnerships, focusing on strategic account management, therapy specialization, and innovative go-to-market models including multi-channel sales.Integrative People LeadershipBuild and lead a high-performing, engaged team by fostering a culture of leadership, collaboration, and accountability.Create opportunities for team members’ growth and career advancement, aligned with CST GIDE goals.Design and implement talent development strategies, offering differentiated experiences to accelerate learning.Hire, coach, and manage direct reports using performance management tools, recognition programs, and development plans.Ensure all team members receive appropriate training and support to succeed in their roles.Collaborate with other OU leaders to align sales efforts with broader business functions.Promote cross-functional integration and teamwork across CST and Medtronic functions in-country.Cultivate a culture of trust, empathy, and collaboration, building strong relationships across the organization.Leverage matrix structures to influence and align stakeholders effectively.Uphold the highest standards of ethics and compliance in all aspects of leadership.Minimum RequirementsRequires broad sales, business development and management and leadership knowledge to lead multiple job areas within a country, region or business.Has a broad understanding of organizational context and comprehensive knowledge of the market sector and environment.Requires a BA/ BSc degree and minimum of 10 years of relevant experience or advanced degree with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience including leadership experience.Candidate must speak fluent English & a local language, and must be based in a country within the cluster.
