Deputy Director – Equalities and Partnerships
Full-time, 37 hours per week
Permanent Contract
Grade F: Starting salary of £65,462
Location: This role can be based at any one of the Arts Council of Wales offices in Cardiff, Colwyn Bay or Carmarthen. We are currently working in a hybrid way.
Our benefits include 30 days’ annual leave, 2.5 privilege days, flexible working hours/pattern, cycle to work scheme and a final salary pension (6%).
About this role
As Deputy Director of Equalities and Partnerships at Arts Council Wales, you will play a pivotal leadership role, driving strategic direction across equality, diversity, workforce sustainability, education partnerships, and Local Authority engagement. Working alongside senior leadership, you’ll oversee strategic teams and initiatives that shape a more inclusive, resilient, and well-connected creative sector. This role is central to advancing key cross-cutting themes, Welsh Language development, Diversity and Inclusion, and Climate Justice, while contributing to long-term national well-being in line with the Well-being of Future Generations Act.
About you
We are seeking a visionary and collaborative leader with a strong track record in strategic planning and delivery across complex, multi-sectoral initiatives. You bring deep commitment to equity, sustainability, and community-led development in the arts and creative industries. Your experience spans building partnerships across education, health, local government, and cultural sectors. You are passionate about creating inclusive pathways into the creative workforce and are confident navigating policy, governance, and long-term cultural development aligned with Welsh Government priorities
Welsh language
We work in both English and Welsh. Fluency in Welsh (both written and spoken) is desirable but not essential for this post. However, a commitment to learning and speaking Welsh to a standard enabling its use in Council business is essential.
