Deputy Director of Finance and Procurement. This is a pivotal leadership role at NHS Resolution, offering the opportunity to shape financial strategy and procurement excellence across a nationally significant organisation. As Deputy Director, you will play a central role in delivering financial stewardship, driving value for money, and enabling operational effectiveness.
What you'll be doing
- Reporting to the CFO, you'll lead the Finance function, supporting our strategy and business plan.
- Leading business planning and budgeting, developing financial strategies for indemnity schemes.
- Ensuring robust financial controls, overseeing internal audit and counter fraud, managing annual accounts, and leading procurement for value and compliance.
- Ensuring effective financial management and corporate planning.
- Supporting papers for two Board subcommittees - Reserving and Pricing Committee and Audit and Risk Committee
- Building effective stakeholder relationships, with a strategic approach to optimising partnerships, and ensuring robust governance and compliance.
- Leading and managing the Finance and Procurement teams, fostering high performance and continuous improvement.
What you'll bring
- Qualified CCAB Accountant, or equivalent.
- You will have a varied background with a range of finance experience in different areas. You could be working as a head of finance or already working at deputy level in the public sector within for example an ALB, wider government or NHS Trust.
- You'll need to be highly numerate and able to quickly grasp the central government finance regime and the broad trends influencing the health sector.
- You'll have experience of providing exceptional leadership to multi-disciplinary teams, excel in stakeholder management, and establishing strong organisational partnerships.
- A track record of leading, motivating and engaging teams through and post change programmes in an environment of continuous improvement and cohesive thinking.
- Experience of managing procurement and an understanding of procurement controls is desirable but not essential
- With a focus on governance and compliance, you'll also need to be innovative, resourceful, and committed to delivering better outcomes for those we serve.

NHS Resolution is a not-for-profit arm's length of the NHS working for health care providers to resolve claims fairly and to share learning across the NHS and beyond. We provide a supportive environment for our staff with specialist training and the opportunity for personal development.
NHS Resolution operates several indemnity schemes, on behalf of the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, primarily for the handling of liability claims against English NHS Trusts and other commissioners and/or providers of NHS care.
