Deputy Director Wellcome 4ward North Clinical PhD programme4ward North IntroductionThe Wellcome 4ward North Clinical PhD programme launched in October 2016 catalyses our ambition to transform doctoral clinical academic training in northern England by integrating research excellence across the Universities of Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle and Sheffield. 4ward North is a collaborative programme led by Directors from each University including Prof Ann Morgan and Prof Hemant Pandit at Leeds. The 4ward North programme attracts high quality PhD applicants and we have just recruited our ninth year cohort of Clinical PhD fellows.Role DescriptionWe seek an established clinical academic as deputy director of the 4ward North programme for the University of Leeds. You will have a track record of attracting research funding, mentoring early career clinical academics and ideally have clinical and research expertise which complements the existing 4ward North directors https://www.4wardnorth.org.uk/ . The role involves co-directing the 4ward North programme in collaboration with the current directors, supporting fellowship applicants at Leeds and participating in the annual shortlisting and recruitment interviews for 4ward North fellows. You will also be involved in developing the strategy for programme renewal.You will have an established reputation in research with your own track record of personal fellowship funding and experience of managing clinical academic research as a University of Leeds member of staff. You will be a registered Healthcare Professional or have completed a recognised clinical training programme in a clinical specialty and be on the GMC specialist register, and you will hold a higher research degree in a clinically related subject (e.g. PhD or MD).Applications are invited from across the Faculty; the role has a work-load tariff of 0.5 PA (Programmed Activity).
