Deputy Project Director – Major Projects

We are representing a leading energy sector organisation seeking a Deputy Project Director to join their Project team. This is a senior leadership role offering the opportunity to work on a major CAPEX project (expected investment >£600m) to extend the life of a critical energy asset.

The successful candidate will support the Project Director in managing multi-disciplinary teams, external contractors, and key stakeholders to deliver this complex refurbishment programme safely, on time, and to budget.

Purpose of the Role:

Provide leadership and coordination across technical, commercial, and operational workstreams. Manage interfaces between internal teams, contractors, and stakeholders to deliver major capital projects. Ensure effective planning, risk management, and execution of key project deliverables.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and manage project workstreams from contract negotiation to delivery and handover phases. Deputise for the Project Director as required. Ensure compliance with project KPIs, scope, budget, and programme milestones. Promote a strong safety culture and lead on Health & Safety strategy at project level.
