OverviewDermatologist Physician Scientist (Associate Director/Director) DUAL POSTING at Novartis. This role can be based in Cambridge, MA USA, Basel, Switzerland, or London, United Kingdom.About The RoleAs a translational medicine expert (TME), you provide medical and scientific expertise and leadership to translational medicine activities across disease areas, including dermatology. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to advance early and late-stage programs, support translational research, and provide scientific leadership in BD&L activities as needed.Key ResponsibilitiesEarly clinical projects (Phase I / II, “Discovery”): develop and carry out strategies for the Translational Medicine component of drug development projects from research to late-stage transition in single or multiple indications, including indication expansion projects; lead global project teams through phase I/IIa to drive development strategy implementation.Late-stage clinical projects ("Profiling"): develop Ph2-3 and post-approval profiling strategy; represent Translational Medicine on Global Project Team; provide support for dose selection and study design; oversee conduct and interpretation of pivotal studies; drive analysis of studies and present results to decision boards; write Translational Medicine portions of regulatory submission documents.Translational Research (TR): collaborate to identify initial or expansion indications; develop strategies for endpoint and biomarker development; may include methodology studies to identify novel endpoints for early decision making in Phase IIa.Business Development and Licensing (BD&L): participate as TM representative in licensing teams; contribute as subject matter expert for disease indication, molecule, and trial experience.General responsibilities: provide medical and scientific leadership to study teams; oversee safety data review; represent TM aspects to health authorities and stakeholders; oversee publication strategy and dissemination of study results; lead study-specific teams and collaborate with other line functions to ensure operational excellence and timely delivery.Essential RequirementsThis position is located at Cambridge, MA; London, UK; or Basel, Switzerland and is not remote. Travel approximately 7% (domestic and/or international).Dual posting with final level and title determined by hiring team (Associate Director / Director).Doctoral degree (MD) with clinical subspecialty training in dermatological diseases; additional PhD/post-doctoral research and Board certification preferred.Experience: Associate Director level requires 1-2 years in pharma/biotech/CRO or related; Director level requires 5+ years in same sectors.Recognized medical expertise evidenced by significant publications; excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to work independently; innovation mindset; ability to lead multidisciplinary teams; strong collaboration within TMEs and with cross-functional teams.Salary and benefits: The salary for this position is expected to range between $145,600 and $270,400 per year, with final offer based on skills and experience. Compensation includes performance-based incentives and, depending on level, eligibility for annual equity awards.
