We are seeking a Design Director to join our fast-paced and dynamic London studio working on some worldclass projects. Our design approach is far from formulaic or driven by a specific style. Instead, we derive inspiration from measured principles, history, geography, and the architectural vernacular to create designs of unparalleled value.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage multiple Client accounts and multidisciplinary teams (Architecture, Interior Design and FF&E).
• Represent 1508 in the wider industry and contributes to business development and companywide aspirations.
• Drive and ensure design integrity and excellence is maintained and companywide objectives are met.
• Oversees high level project management on 2 to 5 projects.
• Monitor project profitability and efficiency.
• Responsible for the programme, invoicing, and deliverables on all projects.
• Work closely with the Project Leaders to ensure projects run as smoothly as possible.
• Build relationships with all key stakeholders.
• Deal with high level client issues or concerns across all projects.
• Ensure regular communication with the client on all projects.
• Ensure project programmes, invoicing and deliverables are maintained.
• Manage resources on project in an efficient manner.
• Manages project profitability and efficiency.
• Oversees contract administration throughout all projects.
• Attend New Business meetings and engages potential clients.
• Input on projects fees, deliverables, and programme.
• Talk through ideas and thoughts with clients in initial meetings.
• Respond to New Business pitches with a strong concept design and project direction.
• Manage high level internal/external conflict and disputes.
• Responsible for a project’s delivery and success.
• Input on HR including recruitment, annual reviews, and personal development plans.
• Approve and monitor studio protocol ensuring project and company demands are considered.

Requirements

• Architecture/Interior Architecture or Interior Higher Qualification.
• Portfolio demonstrating design excellence in high-end hospitality, residential and ships (not essential but beneficial).
• Experience mentoring and coaching staff.
• Confident pitching and presenting schemes to clients.
• Experience across all RIBA stages of a project
• Ideally have experience over $1 million project values.
• Strong knowledge of FF&E and Interior Design
• Astute business understanding.
• Articulate and refined design ability and style.
• Experience with AutoCAD, InDesign, SketchUp, Illustrator, Photoshop, and hand sketching.
• Must be willing to learn, meet deadlines, and take initiative.
• Revit and 3D Rendering are a plus but not required.
