Development Director - British Powerlifting

GENERAL OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE:
The Development Director will be responsible for shaping and delivering British Powerlifting’s strategic development objectives, specifically focussed on increasing participation, expanding and supporting club infrastructure, growing participation in coaching and volunteering and ensuring that we offer inclusion and accessible avenues to be part of the federation.
RESPONSIBLE FOR:
●Building and executing on a clear development strategy that increases participation in powerlifting at all levels while driving inclusion, particularly with a view to increasing accessibility for under-represented groups
● Working with divisions and Home Nations to establish local development strategies that support the broader organisational goals
● Building and maintaining strong relationships with commercial sponsors, governing bodies and partners to ensure that the development strategy is supported by a robust infrastructure. This shall include, but not be limited to:
○ Developing innovative programmes for increasing membership
○ Defining targets for participation at all levels of performance
○ Defining targets for inclusion and accessibility
○ Recommending strategies for ensuring British Powerlifting’s continued growth as the only fully WADA compliant drug-tested powerlifting organisation in the UK.
○ Developing and improving the British Powerlifting Club structure as well as schools and universities
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
● Proven track record of success in a sports development or leadership role within sport
● Excellent understanding of sport development frameworks
● Proven success in building sustainable development programmes and delivering increased participation
● Familiarity with safeguarding standards and policies as they relate to participation, particularly in the context of young people, children and vulnerable adults

● Strong influencing skills, able to build rapport and positive relationships and partnerships with a range of stakeholders
● Methodical approach to planning, able to articulate a clear long term vision and deliver agreed outcomes and metrics
● Commitment to inclusion, equity and diversity and ensuring these are core to our continued growth
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
● Applicants must not have anything in their background that would bar them from being a company director
● The successful applicant will be required to sign a British Powerlifting Volunteer Agreement.
● Must be or become a member of British Powerlifting.
