Role Summary

We are seeking a Digital Creative Director to lead our digital offer. The role blends hands-on creative leadership with strategic offer development. This is an exciting opportunity for a digital designer looking to step up and take on a new challenge with a broader remit.


You’ll help to shape and grow our digital offer, while leading a multi-disciplinary team including our digital project manager and digital support executive. You will also establish close partnerships with our development partners, helping to scope out technical requirements and ensure an integrated approach between design and development.


You'll work across both UX and UI design, overseeing the creative direction and delivery of digital projects.


Key Responsibilities


Creative Leadership

Lead the creative direction for all digital projects, ensuring work is user-centred and beautifully crafted.


Offer development

Help define and evolve our digital offer, including web design, digital reporting, motion and interactive content.


UX & UI Design

Own the UX and UI process, connecting business objectives to design solutions. Overall responsibility for the end-to-end process from wireframes and sitemaps to development handover and final design execution.


Team Leadership

Manage our digital project management and support team, while mentoring/upskilling our design team. As we grow, you will have the remit to build the team and bring in new skills.


Technology and innovation

Working closely with our developers, you will have a solid understanding of CMS platforms and understand the technical implications of our proposed design solutions. You will also stay on top of emerging trends such as the rise of AI and ‘low code’ web solutions.


Client Engagement

Act as a senior point of contact for key digital clients, confidently presenting ideas and building trusted relationships. You will also be responsible for leading new business conversations with existing and prospective clients.


Cross-agency collaboration

Work closely with our brand, sustainability and reporting teams to deliver integrated solutions and identify growth opportunities.


Effective third-party partnerships

Develop strong working relationships with our external development partners, ensuring a smooth and efficient translation of design into build, with an eye on technical feasibility, quality and performance.


Thought leadership

Work closely with our business development and marketing team to develop thought leadership content that builds our profile and supports lead generation.


Commerciality

Have a good understanding of how to scope digital work, manage scope creep and continuously improve financial performance on digital projects, working with the team to build greater awareness and promote best-in-class practices.


Skills, experience, attributes

  • Proven experience in a similar senior digital creative role, ideally with experience in corporate and B2B communications.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing UX and UI design excellence across a range of digital platforms.
  • Commercial nous to ensure profitability on projects
  • Experience leading teams and mentoring.
  • Experience in user research and testing to gather insights into customer needs and preferences
  • Ability to create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity visual designs for web and mobile applications
  • Collaborate with product managers, developers, and other stakeholders to define and implement innovative solutions
  • Knowledgeable in the latest design trends and technologies
  • Experience of design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, Webflow etc.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate business objectives into creative digital solutions.
  • Confident in client-facing environments and experienced in presenting and pitching work.
  • Good understanding of best practices in responsive design, accessibility (WCAG), usability, code quality, and release management.
  • Use data and user insights to optimise digital journeys, ensuring every platform performs seamlessly across devices and browsers.
  • Proven experience in UI/UX design and front-end development
  • Knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and responsive/adaptive design principles.
  • Experience working with CMS platforms and contributing to large-scale digital projects.
