Overview

Pegasus Group is seeking a Director to join our Design service team in Birmingham. This is a Director position within our Birmingham design team that collaborates with in-house planning, heritage, and urban design staff. The team works on projects across the UK within the development industry, including residential-led regeneration, strategic urban extensions, infill developments, retrofit work, and heritage schemes for private clients. The role requires leadership in design, project delivery, or development strategy, with a focus on context-driven and commercially informed outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Leading architectural projects from concept to completion (covering all RIBA stages), with tasks aligned to individual expertise and regional needs
  • Serving as a main contact for clients, consultants, and stakeholders to establish effective working relationships
  • Managing internal teams and coordinating with external partners to achieve quality standards, consistency, and timely outcomes
  • Supporting business development by maintaining client relationships, networking, preparing proposals, and identifying new opportunities
  • Promoting good design practices and contributing to the direction of the architecture group
  • Progressing into a leadership position involving team development, mentoring junior staff, and assuming additional responsibilities

Requirements

  • Ability to collaborate as part of a team and willingness to take on leadership and client relationship management responsibilities, supported by senior staff
  • RIBA Part III qualification or international equivalent; ARB registration preferred
  • At least 5 years of post-registration experience in a recognised design consultancy
  • Demonstrated experience across all RIBA stages, including design leadership and technical delivery
  • Project experience in residential, mixed-use, commercial, regeneration, or education sectors
  • Proactive approach to design and project management
  • Sound understanding and application of UK building regulations and planning frameworks
  • Strong communication, presentation, and leadership abilities
  • Advanced proficiency in Revit; familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCAD, and visualisation tools is advantageous
