About Newton

Newton is a global investment management firm owned by BNY, with offices in London, New York, Boston, San Francisco and Tokyo. It provides investment services to institutional clients, including US and global pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, central banks, endowments, foundations, insurance companies, registered mutual funds, other pooled investment vehicles and other institutions, and, via BNY, to individuals. Role and location

We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Currency Portfolio Manager to join our Fixed Income team. This role is located in London.

Role impact

In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:

  • Implementing currency strategies across all flagship funds and PnL generation.
  • Suggesting and contributing to macro debate and more specific to currency allocations with other senior investors of the team contributing to return objectives of clients and teams desired risk exposures.
  • Enhance currency framework and add to existing FX models. Develop efficient structures to implement currency views, including options.
  • Managing assets independently within investment policy guidelines to achieve investment objectives.
  • Implementing investment strategies consistent with client financial goals and risk tolerance and in accordance with the investment policies/philosophies and procedures and applicable regulations.
  • Working with research, strategy team members and other members of the portfolio teams.
  • Meeting with clients and new business prospects to communicate investment strategy, discuss market performance, and current market conditions.
  • Serving on the asset allocation committee.
  • Supporting investment discussions at Newton and BNY.
  • Making informed decisions on changes that impact the portfolio.
  • Independently implementing investment strategies for more complex funds/strategies consistent with client financial goals and risk tolerance and in accordance with the investment policies/philosophies and procedures and applicable regulations.
  • Evaluating the performance of investments and making timely changes to a portfolio to meet investment objectives or allocation guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Economics/Finance/Maths/Engineering background ideally.
  • Good quantitative skills; solid coding skills are preferable.
  • Knowledge of options structures and strategies.
  • Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Advanced/graduate degree preferred.
