A Delay Expert is required to join a large multidisciplinary consultancy in their prestigious, globally recognized London office.You'll work alongside Who's Who Legal Experts, tackling high-profile domestic and international disputes and driving results across a range of cases.This role is ideal for ambitious leaders who excel at delivering expert-level delay analysis and have a proven track record of success.Candidates for Director-level construction dispute roles will have a well-established network of legal professionals, which they can leverage to develop and generate new dispute work for their employer.The client’s brand and reputation help secure work on some of the largest and most high-profile projects and disputes in the UK and internationally.You will be responsible for managing a team of Delay Analysts across multiple complex and concurrent projects, with opportunities to grow your team, win new work, and advance towards becoming a delay expert.Responsibilities and DutiesAs a Delay Director in the London office, you will work with the Delay team to prepare analysis and expert reports for high-value arbitration and litigation proceedings:Manage a team of delay analysts on several cases.Contribute to writing your own expert reports.Provide specialist delay and forensic advice to external clients.Support the provision of expert advice on all dispute resolution areas.Act as an appointed Expert on selected commissions when requested.Utilize your experience of testifying to enhance your reputation and secure further opportunities.Deliver expert delay and forensic planning services in line with client briefs.Network effectively to win work and build relationships with construction solicitors and industry contacts.Critically analyze project performance to identify root causes of distress.Develop strategies to recover performance of distressed projects or programs.Assess the strengths and weaknesses of client claims and disputes, providing strategic advice.Stay updated with developments in your technical area.Manage stakeholder relationships at all levels, including chairing meetings.Coach and train your delay analysis team, supporting their professional development.Promote the consultancy’s services within the industry.Desired Skills and ExperienceOver 10 years of experience in delay, planning, and related construction and engineering fields.Experience as a Delay Expert, including testifying.Extensive experience managing programs and using planning software and delay analysis techniques.Proficiency in Primavera, Asta PowerProject, TILOS, CEMAR, Excel.Experience managing a team of delay analysts on multiple cases.Contributed to expert report sections and prepared to write your own reports.Provided delay and forensic advice to clients.Delivered successful delay and forensic planning services.Developed and pursued claims within the supply chain.Proven ability to win work and build industry contacts.Experience coaching and training teams and involved in hiring processes.Qualifications/Educational RequirementsDegree in a construction-related field or equivalent qualification.MCIArb or FCIArb qualifications are advantageous.Desirable MSc in engineering or Construction Law and Disputes (LLM).Company OverviewJoin one of the world’s most reputable consultancies, known for high-quality advisory services in claims, disputes, and expert witness work.With offices across the UK, the firm offers a supportive environment with career development opportunities.A full client profile will be provided to shortlisted candidates.
