A Delay Director job vacancy in the construction sector to join a large multidisciplinary consultancy in their London office.The client can offer the opportunity to work on domestic and international projects and disputes, as well as industry leading training and support which will enhance and develop your delay analysis skills.This role would suit Directors currently working within a disputes consultancy, and who can demonstrate extensive Forensic Planning and Delay experience.Candidates for Director level construction dispute appointments will have a well-established network of legal professionals and will be able to use their network to develop and generate new dispute work for their employer.The hiring company is one of the largest and most reputable consultancies in the UK. They have a large claims and disputes division comprising circa 75 staff across 6 offices in the UK.One of the key selling points of this role is the variety of projects and disputes you will be exposed to. The client’s brand and reputation help secure work on some of the largest and high-profile projects and disputes in the UK and internationally.You will have responsibility for managing a team of Delay Analysts on a number of complex and concurrent projects and will be ready to progress your career by growing your team, winning work and delivering, and progressing towards delay expert status.Responsibilities and DutiesWorking as Director of Forensic Planning and Delay Analysis in the London office, you will work with the Delay team to prepare analysis and expert reports for high value and complex arbitration and litigation proceedings:Manage a team of delay analysts working on several cases.Work towards writing your own expert reports.Provide specialist delay and forensic advice to external clients.Support provision of specialist expert advice on all alternative dispute resolution subject areas.Act as an appointed Expert on selected commissions when requested to do so.Leverage previous experience of testifying to grow gravitas and reputation to secure further opportunities to testify.Deliver expert delay and forensic planning services in line with client briefs.Network and win work and develop relationships with construction industry solicitors and influential contacts within construction, building and civil engineering contractors.Critically analyse project and major programme performance, identifying root causes of distressed elements.Lead development of a contract and commercial strategy to recover performance of distressed projects or major programmes in line with Client outcomes.Critically analyse the strengths and weaknesses of Client claims and/or disputes, providing strategic advice on proceeding or amending the basis of claim.Keep up with developments within own technical area of expertise.Provide effective stakeholder management with the Client and at all levels of the supply chain, chairing meetings with the Client and other advisors as necessary.Coach and train the delay analysis team and encourage their professional progression.Act as an ambassador championing the Contract Services delivered by the consultancy in the industry.Desired Skills and Experience10+ years of experience within delay, planning and related construction and engineering industries.Experience appointed as a Delay Expert.Significant exposure to managing programmes, using planning software and delay analysis techniques.Strong working knowledge of Primavera, Asta PowerProject, TILOS, CEMAR and Excel.Experience of managing a team of delay analysts on concurrent cases.Experience contributing sections to expert report writing and delivering expert delay and forensic planning services to clients.Experience developing and pursuing claims up the supply chain.Proven work winning ability and experience.Established profile with construction industry solicitors and influential contacts within construction, building and civil engineering contractors.Experience coaching and training a delay analysis team and supporting professional progression.Qualifications/Educational RequirementsDegree level education in a construction-related field or equivalent qualification is desirable.MCIArb or FCIArb are advantageous.Relevant MSc in engineering and/or Construction Law and Disputes (LLM) desirable.Employing Company Overview and ProfileThe hiring company is one of the largest and most reputable consultancies with multiple offices in the UK.
