Overview


Director, Head of Product Governance EMEA role responsible for establishing and embedding the Product Governance Office within MUFG, EMEA, across London, Paris, Milan and Dubai. Ensures MUFG Bank products in EMEA are developed, managed and maintained in line with strategic initiatives, policies and regulatory requirements. Establishes and maintains a robust governance framework across financial products and ensures regulatory compliance, product lifecycle management and governance of the product catalogue.


Responsibilities



  • Design, development and implementation of product governance frameworks, policies and procedures for product approval, review and lifecycle management in line with MUFG global standards and local regulatory requirements (e.g., FCA, PRA, MiFID II).

  • Develop product taxonomies to simplify the new product approval process and support strategic decision making.

  • Manage appropriate committees/oversight for New Products and Complex Transactions.

  • Maintain records of product approvals, reviews and governance decisions.

  • Support audits and regulatory reviews as required.

  • Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, Risk, Operations and Front Office to assess product suitability and risks.

  • Maintain a central register of product-specific restrictions and conditions for ongoing compliance and timely actions.

  • Govern MUFG’s products catalogue for EMEA with consistent risk classification.

  • Advise Front Office stakeholders on product governance matters.

  • Promote accountability, transparency and client-centricity; build internal networks to enable change.

  • Lead a high-performing team with talent management and a positive workforce culture.


Experience & Qualifications



  • Degree level education in business, accounting, economics or mathematics or equivalent experience.

  • Extensive experience in product governance within corporate or investment banking.

  • Strong understanding of financial products including derivatives, structured finance, and capital markets instruments.

  • Proven track record of building governance functions or leading transformation initiatives.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills; experience in a global, matrixed organization.

  • Experience in financial management and control of a front office function, ensuring governance and regulatory compliance.

  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills; sound business and market awareness.

  • Ability to multi-task, manage changing priorities, and deliver high-quality work; strong presentation and influencing skills.

  • Experience delivering change in a large multinational organization and leading a team.
