This role invites you to own your career and make a meaningful impact.Main purpose of the roleWorking with key stakeholders, this role will initially lead the design, launch and embedding of the Product Governance Office within MUFG, EMEA. The role will support the following divisions and cover our London, Paris, Milan and Dubai branches. The purpose is to ensure that products offered by MUFG Bank within EMEA are developed, managed and maintained in line with strategic business initiatives, internal policies and regulatory requirements. The Head of Product Governance is responsible for establishing and maintaining a robust governance framework across all financial products offered by the Bank with EMEA, including regulatory compliance, product lifecycle management, and governance of the product catalogue across business lines.Divisional contextGlobal Corporate & Investment Banking (GCIB): key international client relationships and main financing products (Syndication, Structured & Project Finance, Securitisation, Working Capital Solutions, ECA financing, etc.).Japanese Corporate & Investment Banking (JCIB): supports Japanese corporate activities in the EMEA region; products include Lending, Money Market instruments, FX, current accounts and payment services.Transaction Banking (TB): supports GCIB and JCIB clients; groups include Cash & Liquidity Management (C&LM) and Trade Finance & Working Capital (TF&WC).EMEA Global Markets Division (EGMD): delivers tailored financial solutions to GCIB and JCIB clients, supporting trading in FX, rates, credit and other instruments.Roles, scope and reportingThis Head of Product Governance, EMEA, Bank position reports into the Head of Business Management GCIB EMEA and matrix-reports to the Heads of JCIB, TB and EGMD. The role will initially have 1 direct report, with periodic reviews of resourcing.Key responsibilitiesDesign, develop and implement product governance frameworks, policies and procedures for product approval, review and lifecycle management in line with MUFG’s global standards and local regulatory requirements (e.g., FCA, PRA, MiFID II).Develop product taxonomies to simplify the new product approval process and support strategic decision making.Manage committees/oversight for New Products and Complex Transactions.Maintain accurate records of product approvals, reviews and governance decisions.Support audits and regulatory reviews as required.Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, Risk, Operations and Front Office to assess product suitability and risks.Maintain a central register of product-specific restrictions and conditions for ongoing compliance and timely actions.Oversee centralised management and governance of MUFG’s products catalogue in EMEA with consistent risk classification.Act as a key advisor to Front Office on product governance matters.Promote accountability, transparency and client-centricity; build internal networks to enable change across MUFG in the EU, EMEA and globally.Lead a high-performing team, manage performance, and act on employee survey results.Professional experience & personal requirementsSkills and experienceDegree level education (ideally in business, accounting, economics or mathematics) or equivalent experience.Extensive experience in product governance within corporate or investment banking.Strong understanding of financial products including derivatives, structured finance, and capital markets instruments.Proven track record of building governance functions or leading transformation initiatives.Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.Experience working in a global, matrixed organisation.Experience in financial management and control of a front office function, ensuring compliance with governance, legal and regulatory requirements.Strong written and verbal English communication skills.Sound business and market awareness; proactive with the ability to multi-task and manage changing priorities.Detail-focused, reliable, and committed to high-quality work in a team environment.Strong presentation skills and the ability to influence resources without direct control.Ability to prioritise, summarize and present valuable conclusions.Experience delivering change in a large multinational organisation and leading a team.Personal requirementsIntegrity and responsibilityBalance risk with opportunityCustomer focusDemonstrate global perspectiveStrong commitment and ownershipProfessionalism and teamworkDrive for resultsCollaborate and build partnershipsCommunicate effectively and professionallyChallenge ourselves to growInfluence and inspire othersLead change and seek continuous improvementThink strategicallyManage and develop talentWe are open to flexible working requests in line with organisational requirements.
