We are seeking an experienced financial professional with a strong track record in analysing and communicating both financial and non‑financial business performance information to senior stakeholders, adept at enforcing consistent performance metrics for reporting, forecasting, strategic analysis, and performance evaluation. The director will work closely with Strategy, Finance, IT, and HR to implement group‑wide initiatives and provide operating leverage for banking management, develop financial narratives for senior audiences, analyse market trends, and deliver tactical insights for business decisions. Advanced Excel skills are required.
Purpose of the role To enable the success of senior executives by helping them navigate complex challenges, make informed decisions, and achieve their goals. Accountabilities
Collaborate with business and senior leadership to develop and implement business strategies that align with organisational goals and regulatory requirements. Liaise between different business units and functions, fostering communication and collaboration. Manage and coordinate strategic initiatives, projects and change management efforts to optimise business processes and strengthen the control environment. Improve operational efficiency by identifying areas for improvement, streamlining processes and implementing best practices. Develop performance reporting for key metrics that reinforce strategic objectives and support external commitments; assist in financial planning, forecasting and monitoring of financial performance against targets. Support business heads in partnership with HR on hiring, workforce planning and joiner/mover/leaver actions.
Director Expectations
Manage a business function, providing significant input to function‑wide strategic initiatives; influence policy and procedures and manage complex, critical projects. Lead a large team or sub‑function, embedding a performance culture aligned to business values and guiding less experienced specialists. Provide expert advice to senior functional management and committees, influencing decisions beyond the own function. Manage, coordinate and enable resourcing, budgeting and policy creation for a significant sub‑function. Escalate breaches of policy or procedure appropriately and foster compliance with relevant regulations. Focus on the external environment, monitoring and influencing regulators and advocacy groups on behalf of Barclays where appropriate. Maintain broad and comprehensive knowledge of industry theories and practices within the own discipline, keeping current on sector and market developments. Use advanced analytical skills to solve complex problems and design solutions in sensitive situations. Exercise management authority to make significant decisions and strategic recommendations within own area. Negotiate and influence stakeholders at a senior level, both internally and externally. Act as the principal contact for key clients and counterparts across other functions and business divisions. Serve as the spokesperson for the function and business division.
