Overview

We're seeking a dynamic and experienced Director to lead our Institutional Trade and Transaction Banking Sales efforts within the Financial Institutions sector. This senior role is pivotal to Lloyds Banking Group's ambition to expand its Trade and Working Capital franchise, with emphasis on growing export Letters of Credit (LCs), supporting UK exporters, structuring Bank-to-Bank Trade Loans, and delivering financial guarantees and other risk mitigation tools.

You'll manage a diverse portfolio of FI clients – including Global Banks, Specialist Finance providers, and Intermediaries – by originating new business opportunities and deepening existing relationships through tailored Trade, Cash Management, and Payments solutions. This role sits within the Global Banks Sales team and is highly collaborative, working closely with IC Coverage, Product, Trade Services, and Corporate Trade & Working Capital colleagues to deliver end-to-end client solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute Trade & Working Capital strategy, driving growth in export LC volumes and revenues.
  • Originate and structure trade finance solutions, leveraging global correspondent banking and risk distribution tools.
  • Manage senior-level FI relationships and act as lead contact for Trade and Working Capital business.
  • Deliver integrated transaction banking solutions across trade, payments, liquidity, and operational mandates.
  • Influence product development through market insights, competitor analysis, and client success stories.
  • Ensure compliance with policies and regulations, supporting risk mitigation and portfolio management.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrable success in Trade Finance Sales and Business Development within the Financial Institutions sector.
  • Deep technical expertise in Trade and Working Capital products.
  • Strong knowledge of the regulatory and risk management frameworks governing trade finance.
  • Excellent relationship management, communication, and influencing skills with senior partners.
  • Strong financial acumen and proven ability to deliver commercial outcomes.
