Director, Marketing Strategy

CNN is seeking a detail and solutions‑oriented Marketing Director to oversee brand, content, and sponsored initiatives for CNN International and CNN Español. They’ll own and develop comprehensive marketing strategies that drive revenue and grow brand affinity for CNN across key international markets and around the world. This role reports to the Senior Director of Marketing and works collaboratively with the Creative Director to execute all marketing projects, from ideation to execution. A successful marketing director has experience developing and implementing long‑lead marketing strategies, thrives in cross‑functional collaboration, and has a passion for news and media. Responsibilities
Strategy Development: Develop and implement global marketing strategy for CNN International and Español’s key initiatives to increase awareness and affinity of CNN’s brand and its subscription products. Project Management: Ensure ideas become realities, managing details and requests to all internal partners to implement the strategy and launch on time. Cross‑functional Collaboration: Work across the news organization to align brand, content, sales initiatives, user experiences, and brand messaging across all touchpoints. Media Planning: Provide thought leadership in owned and operated marketing levers and paid media to maximize impact. Performance Tracking: Monitor and report on campaign performance, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement. Compliance: Serve as brand steward and ensure all marketing activations strictly adhere to CNN’s global brand guidelines and standards.
Qualifications
Experience: 7+ years in marketing or media, ideally at an agency or within the news media, streaming, entertainment, or tech sectors for a global brand. 360 Media Expertise: Broad understanding of all media types, including TV, programmatic, social, OOH, podcasts, and their role in achieving brand goals. Data‑Driven: Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data, measure campaign performance, and make data‑backed decisions. Creative Problem‑Solving: Ability to think creatively and strategically to overcome challenges and create innovative solutions. Strong Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present data‑driven insights and recommendations to stakeholders across editorial and commercial teams. Project Management: Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to juggle multiple initiatives and deliver results under tight deadlines. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field. Attitude: Self‑starter, curious, willing to learn, client‑centric, strong work ethic, and nimble. Industry Knowledge: Experience marketing a global brand and/or in international regions is a plus.
Work Arrangement
Hybrid Working: This role is advertised as a Hybrid work model, combining remote and in‑office work, following the company policy. The arrangement may be adjusted with reasonable notice per applicable laws and business needs.
