The Opportunity

A leading UK property consultancy is seeking an ambitious and commercially-minded Director of Building Surveying to head up its Building Consultancy service in the North East, based in Newcastle.

This strategic leadership role offers the chance to shape and grow a regional Building Surveying function, backed by a national consultancy platform. The role will focus on winning and delivering work, developing client relationships, and mentoring a growing team of surveyors.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Building Surveying service in the North East
• Deliver a balanced pipeline of professional and project-based services
• Undertake core surveying work including dilapidations, TDD, pre-acquisition surveys, contract administration, and reinstatement cost assessments
• Build and maintain strong client relationships across the public and private sectors
• Support recruitment, training, and development of junior team members
• Collaborate with other service lines across the wider consultancy business
• Take full P&L responsibility for the local Building Consultancy offering
• Uphold high standards of compliance, risk management, and quality control

Candidate Profile

• MRICS qualified Building Surveyor (8–10+ years PQE)
• Proven experience delivering commercial Building Surveying services
• Strong business development and client relationship skills
• Demonstrated experience in team leadership or mentoring
• Financially astute with an understanding of forecasting and reporting
• Confident communicator and capable of working with a variety of stakeholders
