Care Director, Children’s Services

Location: Walsall WS1, hybrid with regional travel

The brief

Lead a growing portfolio across children’s, adults and fostering. You’ll hold Responsible Individual status for 3 children’s homes and provide senior oversight for 5 services in total. It’s a mix of strategy, quality, safeguarding and calm day-to-day leadership that keeps services inspection ready and child centred.

What you’ll lead

• Set direction and turn strategy into clear objectives across services
• Line manage Registered and Home Managers with regular supervision and development
• Run a QA cycle that sticks: audits, data, action plans, SCCIF readiness
• Senior safeguarding oversight with the Head of Safeguarding, learning loops built in
• Workforce planning, budgets, succession and management training
• Design, register and open new provisions across the West Midlands
• Build strong relationships with LAs, commissioners and regulators

What you’ll bring

• 5+ years at RM, Regional or Ops level in children’s residential care
• Track record moving services to Good or better and keeping them there
• Confidence opening and registering new homes and working with Ofsted
• Strong grip of Regulations, Quality Standards and SCCIF
• Level 5 Leadership and Management or equivalent. Level 7 desirable
• Data savvy, commercially aware, steady communicator
• Full UK driving licence and happy to travel
