Your Role as Director of Education:
- Lead the delivery of integrated children’s services across the councild providing strategic direction aligned with the corporate plan and Children and Young People’s Plan, while driving transformation, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Be accountable to senior leadership and elected members for service outcomes, ensuring statutory duties are met, governance is robust, and services comply with legislation, policies, and financial strategies.
- Champion cross-sector collaboration and system-wide change to improve outcomes for children and families, fostering strong partnerships with education, health, community, and voluntary sectors.
- Embed a relational and high-performance leadership culture that motivates staff, promotes equality and inclusion, and supports professional excellence and innovation at all levels.
- Oversee service performance, risk management, and resource deployment to ensure high-quality, value-for-money services that are responsive to local needs and deliver improved health, education, and safeguarding outcomes.
- Completed structured leadership development and brings strategic management experience in complex public sector environments.
- Committed to collaboration, teamwork, and keeping people at the heart of service delivery.
- Proven track record in safeguarding, service transformation, and improving outcomes for vulnerable children and families.
- Strong political awareness and partnership skills, with experience advising elected members and working across organisational boundaries.
- Skilled in planning, decision-making, and project delivery, with a focus on innovation, performance, and value for money.
