Funded by six Member Governments, we maintain cemeteries and memorials at over 23,000 locations worldwide, preserving their heritage and stories for future generations. The Commonwealth War Graves Foundation (CWGF) is the charitable arm of the CWGC and the home of this role. We engage people through fundraising, events, and educational programmes that share the inspiring stories of those who served and highlight the CWGC’s ongoing work. What You’ll Be Doing: As our Director of Fundraising, you will lead the strategy and delivery of all fundraising and membership activities for the Commonwealth War Graves Foundation (CWGF). This senior leadership role is critical to securing sustainable income and growth for the future. You’ll drive innovation across individual giving, legacy campaigns, corporate partnerships, and membership, while inspiring and guiding a small, motivated team. Key Responsibilities:
Deliver a long-term fundraising strategy. Grow unrestricted income and membership. Oversee legacy giving, major donors, and corporate partnerships. Launch innovative fundraising products and digital campaigns. Ensure compliance with governance and best practice. Represent CWGF externally, building strong donor relationships.
What You Need to Have:
Proven track record in senior fundraising leadership and income generation. Experience across multiple fundraising streams, including digital and legacy giving. Strong commercial awareness and ability to identify and assess opportunities. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills at all levels. Financially incisive with experience in budgeting and strategic planning. Knowledge of charity governance and compliance.
