Job Description

Director of Supported Housing is a pivotal leadership role that plays a key part in shaping how housing support and homelessness prevention are delivered across the borough. This is a high-impact role, responsible for leading strategic responses to some of the most urgent challenges facing communities today. The council is focused on driving innovation, working with partners, and embedding a preventative and person centred approach to homelessness and supported housing.


About the Role


As Director, you will lead a complex portfolio, overseeing frontline services, partnerships, and commissioning activity, while ensuring alignment with wider corporate and community priorities. You will also have oversight of significant revenue and capital budgets and play a central role in shaping long term housing solutions that are financially sustainable and responsive to the needs of residents.


Responsibilities

  • Lead homelessness prevention and supported housing strategies
  • Oversee service delivery, commissioning, and performance
  • Build partnerships with health, housing, and voluntary sectors
  • Manage budgets and capital investment for housing initiatives
  • Embed lived experience into policy and service design
  • Ensure compliance with statutory duties and best practices
  • Align housing strategy with wider corporate priorities
  • Represent the authority in regional and national forums
  • Lead and develop high-performing multidisciplinary teams
