Position Overview
The Director of Learning Services is responsible for the design, governance, and delivery of our academic and enterprise learning services. This leader will: lead the Learning Services Operations team; oversee academic and enterprise customer learning content strategy and lifecycle management; and manage relationships with Avid Learning Partners (ALPs) to ensure alignment with organizational needs and performance outcomes. This role reports to VP Customer Insights and collaborates closely with business leaders, and external learning vendors.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Define and execute the learning services strategy to support academic and enterprise customers’ learning and training objectives.
- Drive alignment between paid academic learning programs and adoption focused learning managed by Avid Marketing. Collaborate with Avid Marketing on the “gating” strategy between free and paid curriculum and the format of academic content and certifications.
- Lead and evolve the Learning Services Operations team to deliver efficient, scalable support for program execution, learner support, reporting, and platform administration.
- Oversee the movement of operations currently in the Learning Services purview, to centralized Avid operations, gaining efficiencies and right sizing the scope of the Learning Services Operations team.
- Oversee governance and operations of all learning platforms and systems (including Rise, Questionmark, Learn Upon, and ORC), ensuring a seamless learner experience and data integrity.
- Implement and manage systems, processes, and SLAs to ensure high service delivery standards. Track platform and system performance and user experiences, triggering RFPs when platforms and systems fall short of expectations.
- Develop and execute a holistic strategy for academic learning curriculum and content — including internal, external, and partner-provided materials.
- Govern the curriculum and content lifecycle: selection, curation, localization, compliance, archival, and retirement.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) and functional leaders to ensure content is current, relevant, and aligned to overall content objectives.
- Own and manage strategic relationships with external Academic Learning Partners (ALPs), including universities, community colleges, vocational training centers and industry associations.
- Evaluate ALP performance, negotiate contracts, and ensure alignment with partners’ goals and Avid KPIs.
- Track and report on ALP utilization and learner outcomes to optimize programs.
- Establish KPIs and performance dashboards to track learning effectiveness, adoption, and operational efficiency, as well as performance against revenue goals and customer satisfaction.
- Participate in Avid Education and Next Generation CAB to understand customer perspectives and incorporate them into Learning Services strategy.
- Use data and learner feedback to continuously improve programs, platforms, and processes.
- 8–12 years of progressive experience in Learning & Development, with at least 5 years in a leadership or senior management role.
- Proven success in leading learning operations and enterprise learning systems in a complex, fast-paced organization.
- Experience in content strategy, content curation, and vendor/partner management.
- Strong knowledge of learning technologies (LMS/LXP, content libraries, digital platforms). Experience with LearnUpon, QuestionMark and Rise preferred.
- Excellent stakeholder management, vendor negotiation, and team leadership skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Business, or a related field (Masters degree preferred).
- Experience managing global learning teams and scaling operations.
- Familiarity with instructional design methodologies and content authoring tools.
- Certifications such as CPTD, PMP, or similar.
- Experience managing budgets and learning-related contracts.

US Pay Transparency Range $121,113.60 - $151,392.00
