Overview

The Director of People Partnering reports directly to the Chief People Officer and advises on strategic people and workforce planning. You will partner with business leaders, drive HR delivery, and champion culture, diversity and regulatory compliance across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Communicate and deliver the HR agenda, aligning business priorities and driving local change agendas.
  • Line manage the People Business Partnering team, coaching and sharing best practice.
  • Act as a key member of the People Leadership team, supporting the executive HR strategy.
  • Lead complex and high‑risk employee relations issues, engaging SME partners and business leaders.
  • Partner with leaders to develop and implement workforce planning, succession planning and talent identification.
  • Embed SJP culture, values and inclusion across the organization.
  • Leverage HR analytics to inform data‑led decision making.
  • Manage and mitigate risks for relevant people‑related areas, ensuring compliance with Group risk procedures.
  • Support reward strategy changes to attract and retain talent while maintaining cost‑effectiveness.
  • Coach senior leaders for high performance and fiscal responsibility in people decisions.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with HR colleagues and senior leadership.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Extensive senior People Business Partner experience with authority to influence at senior levels.
  • Track record of delivering complex HR programmes and high‑risk employee relations issues.
  • Proven ability to shape local people plans, workforce planning and succession management.
  • Line management of a high‑performing business partnering team.
  • Experience in leveraging HR analytics for commercial insight.
  • Knowledge of FCA, PRA and other financial services regulatory requirements.
  • Senior leadership coaching experience.

Essential Criteria

  • Senior People Business Partner experience – demonstrable senior influence.
  • Track record of successful HR programme delivery.
  • Strategic workforce and succession planning expertise.
  • High‑risk employee relations leadership.
  • Senior leadership coaching experience.
  • HR analytics leadership.
  • Line management of a high‑performing People team.
  • Experience of implementing and executing strategy across multiple teams.
  • Compliance with FCA, PRA and other financial services regulatory expectations.

Special Requirements

This certification role falls under the Senior Managers and Certification Regime. Attendance at Boards and Committees providing appropriate challenge and contribution is required. Some national travel may be required, with occasional overnight stays.
