Director, Director of Quality Engineering – SwapClear and Listed Rates, LCH Ltd, London. The LCH CCP is strategically important to the world’s financial model, requiring resilience and strong controls within a growing business. LSE Group offers collaboration with other technology teams across the Exchange and the rest of the Post Trade Businesses.

Role Profile

We are seeking a highly experienced Quality Engineering Director to lead the definition and delivery of a cohesive testing strategy for the SwapClear and Listed Rates division at LCH. As a senior leader you are expected to inspire change, drive consistency, and embed quality across the full SDLC. You will work closely with business and technology partners to ensure all aspects of the software development lifecycle are delivered to high quality using modern testing standards, automation, and cloud practices. This is an opportunity for someone with extensive hands-on experience leading quality assurance in a relevant domain to define and implement an improved quality journey for a systematically important platform that supports global financial markets. LCH has a large, multi-year change programme transforming its technology platform and cloud-based infrastructure migrations for SwapClear and Listed Rates.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and deliver the testing strategy for SwapClear and Listed Rates, aligning with the Group Testing Standard, Enterprise Architecture, and Technology strategy.
  • Define and own performance metrics to measure progress against Quality Engineering goals.
  • Drive delivery of high-quality software by embedding robust testing practices across the full SDLC, ensuring applications meet quality characteristics including performance, reliability, and security.
  • Establish and evolve efficient testing processes aligned with architectural, operational, and risk management frameworks to enable scalable quality assurance practices.
  • Accountability for test environment availability, access control, deployments, utilization, and data management.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external partners to drive alignment and promote shared quality goals.
  • Champion modern testing tools and practices, including test automation, CI/CD integration, and cloud-based testing approaches.
  • Define and be responsible for the test automation framework strategy.
  • Define scalable, robust, and secure test data management strategies.
  • Support transformation initiatives, including cloud infrastructure migrations and platform simplification, by embedding quality from design through delivery.
  • Ensure the skills and experience of all team members meet business and technology needs for providing quality now and in the future.
  • Invest in the ongoing performance and development of a highly engaged team, with development plans for key talent and succession planning.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and mentorship to the Software Testing and Development communities, promoting high performance, innovation, and professional growth.

Required Experience, Skills and Traits

  • Extensive experience leading quality engineering for business-critical technology platforms.
  • Track record of implementing quality engineering practices and test automation, covering regression, functional, performance, and resilience testing.
  • Experience with modern test management tools (e.g., Zephyr, TestRail).
  • Knowledge of test definition and execution frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Cucumber) and their pros/cons.
  • Data-driven mindset with a metrics-based approach.
  • Detail-oriented problem solver comfortable with in-depth test design and execution.
  • Proven ability to lead change in a large, complex organization.
  • Experience with Agile development lifecycles (Scrum or similar).
  • University degree plus ongoing training in relevant technologies.
  • Experience with a range of testing methodologies, including Behaviour-Driven Development (BDD).
  • Knowledge of financial products such as IR Swaps and Listed Rates markets.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; excellent organizational skills and ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Self-starter with initiative; able to read and understand code.
  • Experience managing a distributed team.

Desired Experience, Skills and Traits

  • Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Knowledge and practical experience running technology on-premises and in the cloud.
  • Good understanding of cyber security domain.
  • Background working in the financial industry.
  • Experience with Murex or similar vendor platforms.
